Title: Almost there...
Post by: bolddeceiver on October 23, 2007, 08:47:57 PM
I think I'm on my last round of readings on my apocalypse/robot SF short story, Epitaph; I think after some modifications or maybe a minor rewrite from the notes I get back from the people who have it in hands right now it will be ready to put in the mail to the magazines.

I've been writing for a long time, and I've sent in a few short stories to contests and the campus lit magazine when I was at Uni, but this will be my first submission to a general-distribution publication.  It came from a realization I had late in the summer: I've never more than half-heartedly considered sending my work to magazines, mostly because I didn't consider myself a "pro" writer.  But there's one and only one thing that makes a writer a professional, and that is selling a story for publication, and that's not going to happen if I never submit.  I'm realistic about my prospects as an unpublished new writer, but I also know I will never go anywhere as a writer if I don't get past this block.

Now to wait to hear back from my readers...

It's not easy putting your stuff out there.  Good luck!
