Holy hell! That was a dandy, dandy episode.
Last summer, my spouse and I visited the UK and I was able to (a) discover niiiiiiice Scotch whiskey (I'm looking at you, Tammavullin) and (b) visit the Science Museum at Cambridge University. All that electrostatics gear! Wow. And the intricate astrolabes. And copper-microscopes. Ooof. I was also jazzed to stand in the spot where THE lab was that had Boyles Law discovered by... well... Boyle!
Initial musings...
that I'll update after thinking about that episode. Ether is a thing that I still get asked about in grade 9 science class. My really sharp students bring up dark matter, dark energy, and antimatter. How is that different from the 5th Element?! {{{aside = I get a bright spark like that maybe once every couple of years... the rest... glug-lug-glug-lug... sigh... :-\ }}}
All hail engineers!
Oh, and ...
I'd put my phucker of a father in that bell-jar too. That dad was a nasty piece of Victorian work... that raised an even nastier piece of schiiit without ethics. As a 21st century man, I've learned to walk away from my dad. Our protagonist's response was extreme and ... yep... unsurprising... meh, my 2 cents...
My final verdict (from the peanut gallery) = Level 4 success. Grade A. 8) 8) 8) 8)
