Title: iPod artist lists, and too many artists
Post by: SteveCooperOrg on July 09, 2008, 04:23:55 PM
I keep quite a lot of podcasts on my iPod at a time, and it bloats the list of artists on my iPod. Listen to all three escape artist 'casts, and you'll get three new entries a week in your iPod artist list.

Oddly, it _doesn't_ bloat the artist list in iTunes.

Anyone know a way to get the iPod to behave like iTunes, and not list podcast story authors as Artists?

Why yes, Steve. There is a way. And if you'd spent three minutes on google, you'd know, you ass-hat.

But just so everyone else knows...

- On your iPod's main, go to Settings.
- Make sure that 'Compilations' is set to 'on'.
- And that's it.

Hope that helps others out there.

Steve, watch your language.  We treat each other here with respect, even the asshats.

The odd thing is that Steve appears to be calling himself an ass-hat.

I'm slightly confused...

That was…you know…the joke.

I'm pretty sure that's because an invisible chronomancer lurking around that nobody but Steve can see (http://forum.escapeartists.info/index.php?topic=1716.0).  Who, oddly, sounds like Alasdair Stuart.

That was…you know…the joke.

I briefly toyed with the idea of replying before you did, to say "dude, that was uncalled for."  But I wasn't sure it would fly.

I know. I'm just confused as to why he's insulting himself. Is this what the kids are doing these days? Is it "hip" and "groovy"?

Well, as long as they stay off my lawn.

My first response after the initial posts was anger that someone was acting that way on the forums, especially since this is such a polite place in general. It took me a good 4-5 seconds to realize he had responded to himself.

I fail at reading comprehension. :p

I'd just ignore the both of them.  They're just trolling.  Seriously, Russell, you're a moderator. Can't you do something about them?

I prefer the soft touch.  We'll see if these guys act up again or not.  Everybody should get 19 posts to get a feel for the forums before we get too nasty.

For both of you...

That doesn't seem to be an issue with my iPod Nano (2nd Gen).
I just scroll through the Podcasts, and each podcast series is listed separately.

When I scroll through the Artists list (which I rarely do), I just see one entry each for the podcasts - "Decoder Ring Theatre", "Podcastle", etc.. Oddly enough, only some of the podcasts are listed under "Artists".

Even more odd, I get doubles, like in this sequence:

  Bathyscaphe
  The Beatles
  Beatles
  The Beatles
  Beatles
  Belairs

I tend to browse by "Playlists" and "Podcasts" so I never noticed it before.
