Okay, poll is finally up! Credit goes to kibitzer for putting together the list for me :P
The poll will run for 2 weeks, and you can vote on any 3 stories.
So here are the best of last years stories, and I promise you they were true.
-
Wow. Almost no overlap in the first nine voters...

Wow. Almost no overlap in the first nine voters...
Yeah. That's really fascinating. All the others have had a few take the lead...
-
Did a nomination need more than one vote to make the list?
-
What's really odd, is I didn't nominate anything. My memory is too faulty plus I worked through a huge backlog of episodes from 2008 in 2009 so separating out which was an 08 and which was an 09 episode was too hard for me. You'd think you would have seen more overlap for others like me.

It looks like the only type of story that is consistently enjoyed is the good old-fashioned monster scare.
I think a part of this might be that Pseudopod tends to have a very wide selection of horror stories, but most horror fans have a fairly tightly defined notion of what makes something "horror." Everyone can agree that a mass of walking, talking worms is definitely horror, but Native American ghosts, non-supernatural murders, and meditations on feces have a lot more room for debate...

Wow. Tough to choose just 3. Interesting to see that the two front runners (for now) have a realy distinct voice, and I don't just mean the narration, though they both have that in spades.

Yes, I included all with 2 or more votes.

This is one of the very things I value so highly about PP -- the anticipation of wondering what kinda story it'll be this week!
-
Kibitzer, thanks for clarifying. Close race...
-
This is fascinating. So (relatively) evenly distributed.
-
Why aren't all the 2009 stories listed in the poll?
[Edit--Never mind, I see there was a separate Nominations thread]
-
One more day to put in your votes!
-
I didn't get through the whole list, but enough so that I felt I could make an informed decision. The results are interesting, and I'm looking forward to catching up on the rest. I think this poll is a testament to the diverse audience that this podcast appeals to. A listener may not love every 'cast, but there is definitely something every month that really scratches that itch.

Alright!
Well this poll sure was illuminating! There was a very even spread of votes across most of the nominated stories! As it has already been said in this thread, this is definitely a testament to the diversity of both the stories presented and the listening audience. It seems Pseudopod satisfies everyone's fancy.
So, in first place we have Pseudopod 155: The Worm that Gnaws By Orrin Grey, followed by Pseudopod 131: Tales of the White Street Society - The Corpse Army of Khartoum By Grady Hendrix, and then tied for third, we have Pseudopod 168: El Dentisto que Corta By Mike Norris and Pseudopod 152: Hometown Horrible By Matthew Bey.
I hope you folks enjoyed the process as much as I did! It sure was fun, especially revisiting some of the stories that I didn't remember as well.
Tune in next year for Best of Pseudopod 2010!

Wow! This is just a huge honor for me. Congratulations to everyone else on the poll, and thank you to everyone who voted, whether for me or otherwise. Also, a huge thanks to my reader Ian Stuart, whose wonderful reading was at least twice as good as the story itself!
