We're down to just four novels in the poll. Flowers for Algernon, Hitchhiker's Guide, Dune, and
Frankenstein. I love all four of these books to a ridiculous degree, and have to complement the voters on having great taste. But now we're in the semifinals and have to narrow it down to just two. I'm pretty sure I know which two are going to come out on top, but I'm open to surprises. I've been surprised before.
Last week Frankenstein beat out 2001 by two votes - which in fact surprised me. Will this weeks underdog come through? Vote and see!

this would've been the final in my personal favourites.
it's gonna have to simmer for a while. not an easy choice.
-
Such a hard decision! Wait... no.

You know, just like with "Ender's Game", I've read the short version of "Flowers for Algernon", but not the novel. The short version was astonishing. I think Isaac Asimov admitted it made him cry. Damn near made me cry, too.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy didn't make me cry.
I think I'm going to have to go with Hitchhiker's.

I continue to stand by my position that "Hitchhiker's" just isn't that awesome. I get a lot more laughs and a lot more enjoyment from almost anything by Terry Pratchett.
I vote for "Flowers" because it's really stuck with me over the years, and I still find it popping into my head sometimes, whereas I don't tend to think about "Hitchhiker's" unless someone else brings it up first.

There's absolutely no question: Flowers for me. It's very good sci-fi, the kind that speculates and makes you think. Hitchhiker's is without doubt an awesomely fun ride, but a better sci-fi novel?

Well, this is turning out closer than I expected!

Shamelessly bumping over the Horror poll threadomancy!
