Title: PP Authors that Make You Squee
Post by: Bdoomed on December 06, 2010, 07:13:50 PM
Have you ever been watching your episode download, and then realized the story was written by one of your favorite EA authors and done a fist-pump in the air? Or, you know, grinned and thought, "Awesome!"

So, who are the authors that make you squee?

Somewhat contrary to what I said in the PC thread, I actually do have a name that comes to mind for Pseudopod - Jim Bihyeh.

I was also going to say Jim Bihyeh :)

Should I say "none" in all three threads?

Only if you're trying to boost your post count  ;)

None. Oh wait, I already said that here. Silly me.

What they said. And The Music of Erich Zahn was very nicely done.

Not sure we've had a large number of recurring authors. There's Eugie Foster with a handful and a couple other authors with two.

I'll throw my vote in for Bihyeh as well - I love his Native American mythos stories.  Did his anthology of them ever come out, anyone know?  My family knows me well and I've got book store gift cards to spend from the holidays.

It's worth updating:

Jim Biyeh
Orrin Grey
Grady Hendrix

Also, anything written or read by Tina Connolly.

Speaking of readers, is there a thread for them? Other than Tina, I would listen to anything read by Ian Stewart, The Word Whore, or Laurice White.

Finally a shout-out to DKT, Scattercat, and Unblinking: although I may not be at the squee point with you, I will always stop and devote my full attention to your work. Keep it up!

If you're ever in York, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to Mr. Stuart's ghost tour. His voice, the town's rich history, and his passion for the subject are an UNBEATABLE combination.  Tell him I sent you.  ;-)

He does a ghost tour?

I am TOTALLY going to check that out next time I'm in the UK!

I'm not likely to make it there soon, but I have a challenge out to a friend who's over on the island. I have gotten him to agree to go on the tour and get photos taken. Is there a number or a website I can point them towards?

You know, I've lived in York for 4.5 years now, and I have not yet been on any ghost tour. I really should go.

I thought I'd said it somewhere here but maybe not... did an AWESOME ghost tour in York during a canal boat holiday. I don't think it was the estimable Mr Stuart but it WAS a guy who just told great stories. And since it was early evening with dusk growing around us, the atmosphere was just perfect. A creepy story, well told, is a wonderful thing. Genuine chills!

If you like his voice, you should totally download a copy of one or both of his albums (http://painfulreminder.net/).

The only one that pops to mind is Eugie Foster.  Glad someone else mentioned her as well.
