Go for it!
The right way would probably be a Pseudopod (Podcast) page and then a disambiguating link from the main entry. (I don't want to do it myself because there are admins there with lightning reflexes to shut down anything that smells like self-promotion.)

The first Wikipedia page I've ever created:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudopod_%28podcast%29
Others please feel free to add to it.

Sweet, thanks a lot, Holden! It looks great!
If anyone wants to start adding our authors.... ;D (Like Steve said, I'd do it myself, but...)
-
The link to Ben Philips probably isn't right.
-
Those mojo-heifers killed our wiki page!
I'm so mad, I'm going to bed! >:(
-
What the hell?!?! Why?

The deletion page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Pseudopod_%28podcast%29

Who wants to start the new one? Volunteers please take one step forward.

I'm staying out of wikipedia these days, but if it is to be recreated, it should be done with specific reference to why it's important. Steve mentioned on the last metacast that PP is the largest horror market out there. If Steve (or anyone else) can provide the actual figures, that would be more then enough.

They deleted it even though the "Keeps" outvoted the "Deletes"? Those guys are d1cks! And I resent their d1cketry!

Discounting Steve as COI'd, it was a tie, and it's not a democratic system. It's more just a taking of the pulse of the community. The editors still decide in the end.

It annoyed me that they never told Steve what info they wanted. If they said, "you need x of this and y of that," Steve would have either provided the data or failed. Then it's an open and shut case. I understand that not every podcast deserves a page, but where's the cut off?

That's not how wikipedia works - when collecting information for these things, they are not supposed to consider anything Steve says, as he is an affected party. As a general rule, Wikipedia only considers secondary sources as valid, not primary sources. If Steve or Ben or Alasdair ever does (or already did) an interview with any media source (online or offline) that discusses PP's success, then that's the kind of evidence that will justify a page. Directly responding to Wikipedia itself is not.
Plus, the PP page was deleted without prejudice and the editor who deleted said it's ok to restart it. In Wikipedia terms, that essentially is a request for a do-over, rather than an actual deletion - it means that the editor thought that PP probably is important enough but he didn't like the existing page.

I took the Escape Pod article, and changed what I knew to change. Whenever this is ready, please feel free to paste it back where it belongs!
Your job (or mine if you don't get to it while I'm at work today) is to find some independent references to Pseudopod emphasizing that it is the first of its kind, how successful it is, and maybe some background on a few of the authors.
If you don't know how to handle the wiki text, just post what you want to say and the citation to back it up, and someone will work it in.

Pseudopod is a magazine-style podcast launched on 23 October, 2006 which presents stories in the horror genre.
Pseudopod is produced by Escape Artists Inc., a company started by Steve Eley for the purpose of supporting and continuing the podcast.
Pseudopod offers a weekly story, usually between 2000 and 6000 words in length. It also releases flash fiction pieces less than 2000 words in length on an irregular schedule.
Pseudopod has a policy against allowing authors to read their own works. Many stories are read by people associated with Pseudopod ( examples? ) as well as other members of the podcasting community.
Pseudopod's music is provided by ...

One additional note: if/when you go to upload the Pseudopod logo, we need some copyright language to go with it (ie, "this is fair use because")
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:EscapePod.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:EscapePod.jpg) for an example.

One more thought... if we determine we DON'T have enough to justify a separate article for PP (or PC for that matter), we could put what we do have into sections within the EP article, and set up a redirect from "Pseudopod (podcast)" until that day when it is painfully obvious even to the most dour Wikipedia gardener that a separate article is justified.

I fully support you in this effort, but don't know how to help.
I'm not tech savvy, and don't know where to get you numbers. How can a Luddite such as me help this cause?

A PP article needs to say something about how PP is the "first" or the "leading" short horror fiction magazine, and needs to be sourced; it doesn't have to be an online source (if you saw it mentioned in a print magazine or your school paper, you could cite that), but if you find a link to something that makes it easier for their editors to find.
You can also help by looking at the body of the article, and adding anything that you think would make it a better article. Significant authors/readers featured, brief bios for Ben & Al, etc.
If you don't know how to stick it into the wiki-code, you can just post what you find here, and I'll work it in.

I've always enjoyed the irony of a website that has page-long summaries of every episode of Star Trek trying to enforce notability standards.

I think those are useful actually. My memory teeters on the ability to recall such things, if it gets started off I can usually remember most of an episode, but without any stimulus I keep drawing a blank. So those summaries are useful to start me off, and then to make sure my memory's still at least 30% reliable.
-
If we don't find any "outside sources" (ie, interviews or articles) about PP I don't think a new page is going to stay up. And of course PodCastle certanly isn't notable enough to merit it's own article yet - it just started.
But I do think that each of them having a decent sized section of the Escape Pod article makes sense and is a good way to go.

Still no dice on this yet, eh?
