I am going to spoiler this because it's negative feedback. I don't like posting negative feedback, especially to a good story. But I felt the timing of when this story was run was poorly considered, and felt the need to address that.
Any other day on any other month, I probably would have really appreciated this story. But to run an anti-American/anti-war story and follow it with a call for peace so close to Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is... bad taste? Poor form?
~2,400 Americans were killed in an unprovoked attack, and Japan had no intention of stopping. There may be no good wars, but as long as human beings are covetous, sometimes there are necessary wars.
This wasn't a day where we celebrate victory, but a day when we mourn the dead.
Is it necessary to remind everyone involved that there are no clean hands when people kill each other, that the US took horrific actions in the wake of the attack? Yes.
But is early December the right time to do that? When you have listeners that lost a parent or grandparent that day?
If this story had to be run on a World War II pacific front anniversary, mid-August or early September would have been a much better choice.
If I am slightly incoherent, I apologize, but I felt the need to post this while I still felt such a strongly negative reaction to this episode.
