Anyone else having trouble uploading an avatar? Mine disappeared sometime yesterday (probably in the server move) but every time I try to replace it, I get this message: "The attachments upload directory is not writable. Your attachment or avatar cannot be saved."
I've tried converting my avatar to a few file types (jpeg, png, gif) and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any thoughts?

(This is starting to sound like a logic problem. "If Varda can see Scattercat's and Fenrix's avatar, but not Benjaminjb's, and Fenrix can see Scattercat's and Ben's but not Varda's, and Ben can't see anyone's... which train will pull into the station first?")

This was a legitimate laugh-out-loud moment for me! :D By the way, I can see the same combination of avatars as Varda can, but cannot see my own.

Hello again folks. Our support staff think they've identified and fixed the problem. Everything should be back to normal, but please let us know if there's any more weirdness.

I can now see the avatar of everyone but the person in the green shirt. My train ticket is for 4 p.m.

Woot! Thanks, Kibitzer! I re-uploaded my avatar, and it is now staring back at me in an obviously green shirt. :) The bear walking by to the south appears to be a bugbear.

I can see everyone's avatar now. It helped once I realized that "flour" sounds like "flower" and that's how I caught the thief.

Yeah, I've actually tried to re-upload it several times and something is going wrong somewhere. Is there an unspecified file size limit?
Profile -> Forum Profile Info -> "I will upload my own picture" -> Browse, select my image -> Save Profile
Then, when the page reloads it reverts to saying "no file selected" where my image name had been once I selected it. ???

I seem to be getting the same results, but I appreciate you looking into it! Just a head's up that I'm out of town this week so I'll try and check in but it'll be pretty sporadic.

Can I use a photo from my album as an avatar. Cant seem to make it work.
Step by step would be great Im a bit of a simpleton.

I used one that was saved to my desktop at the time, and followed the steps I said just a few posts up. The key for me turned out to be making sure it wasn't too large a file. Less than 100kb, if memory serves.
