Title: Please help me find a story

The story is about a little girl in the mental ward.  Turns out she lives in VR and has done the same thing multiple times.  She is the basis for AI.

Okay, this rings a bell! She was in a hospital room and every so often would figure out that she was in a VR. The nurse would use a trigger phrase to make her go to sleep. When she realizes she's in a VR they bring her down a hall to an... administrator? They explain everything to her and she resolves to escape before they reset her. It was a great story, this is going to drive me nuts!
