OK, first and foremost, I need to say that this story was a home run.  It is playing ball in the same ballpark as "Paper Tiger."  If this was a home run, "Paper Tiger" was a grand slam, from my point of view.

Now, second, and much less important, I'm surprised that we waited for Artemis Rising to hear this story.  I guess you could mark this as my "compliant" if you're looking for one.

Veronica was a very excellent choice for a reader.  (However, I could be biased, she's really just that good.)

Failure is an event, not a person.

I had a tough time with this one.

The antagonists weren't complex.

Prince #1 and Prince #2 got fridged.

The younger princess had almost no agency—at most, I think she "chose the flowers for the wedding barge".

This pulled hard on Western canon "Beauty and the Beast" tropes.

Finally, the second and third princes seemed in no way concerned that the younger sister's earlier suitor(s) had been consumed by a dragon.

I found this story fun though a bit formulaic (well, that's how fairy tales work, even twists on them).
