I love the characterisation of the crows' social organisation and language here, though I've got no idea if it's accurate. I also love the way Robot recruited the crows, even if it didn't mean to at first. It came across to me like "welp, might as well learn to speak Crow if there's nothing else to do". Something about this whole story just tickles me right. It's got a lot to love: overcoming adversity, making do with limited resources, befriending animals, quirky language, and good deeds. The defunding of the CDC is all too plausible, though. It bothers me when valuable public-interest agencies are sold off and defunded by governments anywhere. The fact that "Amazon Health" was unable to detect the dangerous outbreak in this fictional scenario can't be taken as real evidence either way, but it's very plausible too. It's something anyone could have missed, but it looks worse to me when a privatised service misses an incident in their purview in an economically weak area. They'll make excuses and explanations later, but I always suspect they weren't paying attention because it's less profitable.

PS - I will assume, from now on, that crows are insulting me as I pass.
PPS - At least they don't physically attack like magpies.
