Another week, another domination by Princess Bride.  This is it's last week though, it will either loose, or be retired like Empire Strikes Back was.  This week's completion is two silly and excellent movies, and two serious SF movies that warn about possible futures.  Except that one has a trio of silly robots.

I haven't seen Buckaroo Bonzai yet, though it's somewhere way down on my queue. I really liked Gattaca, but I can't consider it as classic as PB, so I'm gonna have to go with PB, again.

Pitting Galaxy Quest against PB is just cruel :)

Still haven't seen PB (its on the NetFlix list) and didn't like Buckaroo Bonzai.  It is a close call between the last three for me, but I went with old school Silent Running, which I saw maybe 20 years ago.  The little robot dudes were cool.  I'll have to watch that again.

All are excellent movies (except Gattaca, which I've not seen), but the prize has to go to Silent Running.

If it wasn't for that movie, there'd be no R2-D2, and then where would we be?

Go PB!!

I haven't seen Silent Running yet.  Adding that to Netflix right now.

Gattaca.  My all-time favorite sci-fi movie ever.  The imagery is gorgeous and the acting and writing are excellent.  I'll never forget the scene where Jerome hauls himself into the incinerator.

What, I'm the only Buckaroo fan around here?

"Remember, no matter where you go, there you are."

"Buckaroo, The White House wants to know is everything ok with the alien space craft from Planet 10 or should we just go ahead and destroy Russia?"
-"Tell him yes on one and no on two."
"Which one was yes, go ahead and destroy Russia... or number 2?"

"Declaration of War... the short form."

"It's not my goddamn planet. Understand, monkey boy?"

"Where are we going?"
-"Planet 10!"
"When?"
-"Real soon!"

I'd have voted for it if The Princess Bride wasn't on the poll.

If neither of them, then Gattaca, even though it suffered from an overly long expository intro.
