Part of me wants to cross-post this to fantasy and horror discussion.  Great defense of genre fiction at about fifteen minutes into this episode of Wisconsin Public Radio's To The Best Of Our Knowledge.  Sorry it's real audio, but it's worth listening to.

Michael Chabon makes me very happy.  He edited some very good genre anthologies for McSweeney's.  He came down to a Southern California teaching conference once after Summerland had come out, and I was the only one in line to get signatures.   :o  He was very cool, though, and talked to me about the X-Files episode with the golem and encouraged me to check out the original Nightstalker series.  (Hrm.  Still have to look that up.)

I'm looking forward to giving this a listen :)
