My apologies if this has already been covered somewhere, but is there a reason that Pseudopod doesn't include the sort of listener feedback sections that EscapePod and PodCastle have?

I enjoy those sections of the other podcasts and would be interested to hear Alasdair's take on the various forms of feedback he must receive.

Or to hear Ben Phillips respond to people's criticism.  That could be funny.

I'd find that funny, but that's because I only come into the comment threads when I need to crack skulls.

I can't remember if it has been mentioned before, I think so.
Either way, I'm quite happy the way it is. Alasdair and Ben do great job setting the mood with the ins and outs, and I worry that adding more content would foul that up. I think making Pseudopod more like EP and PC would make it less like PP. I like the difference.

On the other hand, adding forum content would probably increase the forum activity, for better or worse.

How do you fight a bully that can un-make history?

I think it's just a matter of the different presenter styles. What PP does works for PP, just like what PC does works for PC. (EP seems to be in a bit of a transition period right now - I get the feeling that Steve isn't happy with his format but that's he's unsure of what to do about it. Certainly, he doesn't seem to want to do the feedback anymore).

FWIW, I do agree with Thaur and eytanz.  Nearly 100 episodes in, and format-wise it seems PP has really hit its stride.  I wouldn't do anything that might mean screwing up Alasdair's outros.

Mainly it's time constraints.  It's one thing for me to just read
feedback, but quite another to spend the time it takes to try to
choose feedback from the lot that best encapsulates the various points
of view.  Even if I half-assed it and just picked completely random
comments to read & respond to, I just feel like all of this costs a
lot of time for us while falling outside the scope of what it's
important for us to accomplish.  (Which already takes up a lot of our
time.)

I have to admit the decision was probably also influenced at least a
little bit by the fact that when I listen to other podcasts, I always
skip the feedback.  When I just want to enjoy some stories (i.e., it's
not my job to monitor feedback), I don't care what everyone else
thinks of them.  On the rare occasion I get curious, I just go read
the forum/blog since it gives you a more complete picture and more
involved discussion.

Of course it's a mistake to assume that everyone else will experience
podcasts the same way I do, but this probably biased the decision a
little!

Wasn't sure where to post this.  I really enjoy most of the episodes, but I have one major problem.

I drive a truck over the road, and most of the time, I can't listen to PP while driving.  The audio isn't clear enough.  I had a friend tell me the best way to test a recording is to play it back over the crappiest system you can find.  If it sounds good there, then you've got a quality recording.

I still get to listen to PP, just not while cruisin' down the interstate.

FWIW I'm fine without the feedback. Agreed that Ben and Alisdair have a wonderful format; that's why it's my fave Escape Artists 'cast and I don't think it needs messing with.

I like it without the feedback.  Alasdair does a marvelous job on the intro and outro, I especially like the line he always just before "because I have a story for you, and I promise it's true", and the philosophy the end is always great.  :)

Like others, I'll read the forum comments if I want to know what others think.

:D we made him keep that one

I'd like to hear my options, so I could weigh them, what do you say?
Five pounds?  Six pounds? Seven pounds?

We made Mur keep that one.  I did some serious screaming about that one in the blog before this version of the forums was up.

And glad I am that you did. It's so appropriate.
