Yeah, I agree. I think I'll step away from this game for now, let other people play for a while.

hate to say this here but I have not read either of those *ducks and covers*
which one should I read first?

Tough call there.  Blade Runner was based off of Sheep, and there is the Phillip K. Dick Sci-fi award, so I would probably tell you to go for that one.

It's come down to this. Soon we will be able to announce the victor.

( 5 ) The Stars My Destination - Alfred Bester -1
( 3 ) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - Philip K Dick  +1

But it won't be TSMD, because PKD is my favourite author. So sorry, Alf.

Both are well worth reading, in any order. I think the correct answer is "whichever one you can get your hands on first".

I get to spend 2.5 weeks on Blade Runner/Androids next semester, granted I've read Androids twice and saw the Final Cut in a theater.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

I should point out for the sake of those that saw blade runner but didn't read the book - the movie is a very loose adaptation. Both movie and book are great but they are pretty different.

This is the case for every film adapted from PKD up until A Scanner DarklyTotal Recall and Minority Report are particular standouts; they have only a basic premise and a couple of character names in common with their source stories.  (I haven't seen Paycheck yet.)

A Scanner Darkly is an amazing book, BTW.

I love PKD, but I guess there is only one way this can end:

( 7 ) The Stars My Destination - Alfred Bester +1
( 1 ) Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - Philip K Dick  -1

I'm so sorry...

I haven't read one of them, so I don't feel I can finish this off.
