I just listened to "Connecting Door" today; a couple of months ago I listened to "Civilized Monsters" and "That Old Black Magic".  I searched out and downloaded all three stories after Geo mentioned on an old podcast (i'm working through his backlog) that he'd read for PP.

Seriously, he's the most kick-ass reader I've ever heard; I would probably subscribe to Pseudopod if he read more often.

For that matter, it would rule to have him read for EP or PC once in a while.

I'll second that.

Oh, great and mighty Alasdair, Orator Maleficent, He of the Silvered Tongue, guide this humble fangirl past jumping up and down and squeeing upon hearing the greatness of Thy voice.
Oh mighty Mur the Magnificent. I am not worthy.

I'm surprised you aren't already subscribed to Pseudopod.
But I agree, Hrab is good.

I just did ... the three stories read by Geo are not at all what I expected from a podcast advertising "disturbing" stories.  I quite liked them, and since I sometimes get similar fare on Variant Frequencies, I figured I might as well just dive in.

One thing I love about PP is that there's a lot of variety for it being a horror podcast.  If you want fun, I highly recommend you check out Episode 6 -- "What Dead People Are Supposed to Do." Weird, quirky fun.

Seconded.  That one makes me giggle every time and the delivery on one word in particular is priceless:)

Currently working my way through from the beginning and am in the middle of #3 "Little Boy Leg Bone".  Impressions so far: Excellent premiere with Sigler's "Bag Man"; wasn't impressed with the flash piece "Waiting Up for Father" ...

... but the second flash piece, "Your Shoes", hit a nerve.  It took my occasional musings/fantasies about "what if I woke up and found I'd become a woman" and turned them on their head in a nasty way.  Of course, in my flights of fancy my body had simply become female, rather than my having body-switched with an actual person, but still ... the story's been sticking in my mind ever since listening to it last night at bedtime.  I wonder how it might have been different had the protagonist's wife not been a rape victim ... but then, the story would not have been the one that I got and that has been haunting me all day.  This is the kind of "disturbing" that I was led to expect from the 'cast's early press.

I personally AM over at PP also- but more George Hrab is always a good thing.

sorry, heavy shift finger and a talent for mangling the English language.

I meant that- I had already discovered the wonders of the horror podcast. Although, now that I think on it, I'm a little jealous that you've got so many stories ahead of you while I spent last week in a state of anticipation.

Oh.  I thought "AM" was an abbreviation or something, like "Ante-Moderate" or sumsuch.

Moving along ...

#3 "Little Boy Leg Bone" -- eh.  Not bad, but not great either.

#4 "Returning my Sister's Face" -- loved it.  But as I said in another thread, I'm predisposed to like fantasy stories set in feudal Japan.

#5 "Sacred Skin" -- nicely creepy.

#6 "What Dead people are Supposed to Do" ... bit of a letdown; I should have remembered that DKT said "fun", because this story struck me as too comedic to be in a horror podcast.

I'm still waiting for another one to disturb me like "Your Shoes" did.

* * *
Oh, and the flash "Devote Your Life to Beauty" didn't work for me at all.  I just didn't get it.  And #2 "Good Advice" was a decent bit of psycho-horror.

I'll be catching up on the PP and EP that I missed early next year.  A little birdie told me that Zanta is sending us some Poddiscs.
