I don't wanna be a rude new forum member, but as a newbie to podcast audio stuff who only has the basics like the big EP 3 and Drabblecast, along with a few other peripheries that I'm still giving second/third chances to like clonepod, the Sigler stuff has been entirely overrated, IMO.  I listened to all of Earthcore and Ancestor.  It's ok, but it only got into my ears because this audio stuff is fresh territory.  Give more standard, talented (but granted, less visionary)pro-writers some time to put stuff out there (which they eventually will cuz it's a dying market) and novels like these will pale in comparison.  Not saying I didn't wring some enjoyment from them, just saying that competition is pretty sparse.  Tried a JC Hutchins and couldn't get past first 2 or 3.  Will start Infection soon with expectations of more of the same drill.

I'm afraid I gave up on Earthcore about a quarter of the way through it.

I feed The Pod.

So I'm now listening to Nocturnal...I'm about 1/2 way through and am liking it...The Cop angle is different for the Sigmeister so that is neat...Plus, it doesn't seem to fit the mold that earthcore and ancestor fall into.  So it's nice to hear something different from him.

Now that Murder at Avedon Hill is complete, I'm casting around for a new fantasy podcast.  I think I've narrowed it down to three choices.  Any recommendations?

Toothless
Heart of the Ronin
In the Service of Samurai

Is that a negative recommendation against all the podcasts I listed?

Not at all I am unfamiliar with all of them actually just throwing another suggestion out there to you.  I am a huge fan of Mur's writing and so I suggested Heaven.  you can find out more here at http://www.murverse.com

Is this the last book of Heaven?  This story has just gone on tooooo long.  If it wasn't for Mur's reading voice I would have given up early in book 3.

Okay, War has gone live, but I can't seem to find a subscription feed.  Anybody know where one might be, or are we expected to manually download each episode?

[edit]
Found it at podiobooks.com.  Silly me, what was I thinking, looking on Lafferty's own site?  ::)

Whilst there's not a feed up there yet, there is her email address.  How about you suggest a feed to her, or ask where it is?

In fact, here you go, direct from Mur herself:

'Check out heavennovel.com soon - RSS feed is in the top right sidebar. iTunes link coming when they approve it.'

Frak iTunes.

It seems the feed at heavennovel.com would have me re-download the four parts I've already got (am I wrong?)  I'll just use the podiobook feed.  But thanks for the heads-up anyway.

And for those of you still playing our home game, the actual feed is

feed://feeds2.feedburner.com/heaven_podcast

Which when I looked at it has the first episode of War and the associated promos and God interviews at the top.

I'm not the only one, I know.  Where can I find a good Military Sci Fi podcast?

I gave it a second chance. It was pretty good after all.
Now I'm nearly finished with Sigler's "Nocturnal".

I got al Siglered out.  High body count doesn't make up for weak writing.  When I was forced to purge my podcast list, he was one of the first to go.

I decided to ressurect this thread because it's always a good place to come for other podcast suggestions.  Here's some recent recommendations from another thread:

Sad to say, I have gone through the backlog already including reviews and meta casts. The only thing keeping me sane are the episodes of the Drabble cast and the new episodes of Pseudopod. Where are some other good podcasts of funny or unique scifi & horror? I already went through all the well told tales, and fear on demand. Not to mention you should be writing and classic tales so where do i go now? Any suggestions?

You should check out StarShipSofa. Its different.. its not purely fiction, they run fact articles and reviews too.. but its really really engaging, even the nonfiction segments they run are interesting. Plus the fiction stories they run there are by people like Paolo Bacigalupi, Tad Williams, Tanith Lee, Gene Wolfe, Bruce Sterling.. and that was just from a quick look at their webpage.

I'll add some more to the list:

Tor.com has two podcasts: Audio Fiction, hosted by Mur Lafferty, and The Geek's Guide to the Galaxy, hosted by John Joseph Adams & David Barr Kirtley.  I especially like Geek's Guide.  It is a lot of fun.

The fans of the Drabblecast have recently spun off their own podcast called The Dribblecast.  Basically, it is members of the Drabblecast forums reading stories that were written by Drabblecast fans and posted on the forums.  There are some good fun stories up their.  It is also remarkably easy to join in and try your hand at podcasting.  I have produced a couple entries myself.  I read one of Scattercat's stories, and the other one I just sent in last night so it hasn't been posted yet.  Learn about becoming part of this here.

Actually, I should back up, the whole idea for a fan run podcast started when Steven Lidster asked Drabblecast forumites to read for a new podcast of his stories: Clowns and Bunnies and Other Scary Things.  He has the first episode up featuring readings by Abigail Hilton, Liz Mierzejewski, and Norm Sherman.  Check it out.

I really like Tor's Geek's Guide to the Galaxy, except for the guy giggling.  Guys should not giggle.  It's a really cool podcast otherwise.
