For the record, Coffee through a straw is not an appetizing prospect. An IV drip on the other hand...

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

How about a sippy-cup, like the ones for uncoordinated toddlers liable to spill their milk?

No good, alas; you need gravity for a sippy-cup to work.

Not if the sippy cup has a liner like a lot of baby bottles do.

That pretty much brings us back to pouches with straws.

well free floating blobs of hot coffee is a unhappy idea- but though the caffine would be great through i.v. I actually like the taste of coffee.

IV drips need gravity.

are there any adverse effects on the circulatory system with an absence of gravity?  i would think the body would kinda need it...

That's why NASA spends all that money on research.  So far it seems like the circulatory system kinds of likes low/zero g.  It's a total bitch on other things like bone and muscle density and mass.

Hmm, I wonder about the possibilities offered by molecular gastronomy?  Coffee caviar is tasty and would be easy to eat in zero gravity, but it wouldn't do the trick for a real coffee enthusiast.  Maybe there's a way of creating coffee spheres with a liquid core?  NASA needs to get  Ferran Adria on the phone, stat!
