So here are the main players in the Escape Artists org chart.  I'm sure I have overlooked, mis-spelt, or otherwise messed things up, but it seemed like a good place to start.  Please provide any corrections or additional info.

Edited: made corrections as of 04/07/11

Podcastle also has a sound editor who has remained unnamed, and you have Bdoomed moderating the wrong board.

I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

I've been trying to get that Sound Editor gig for a while now. *grin* Not the only one, but one of the people on staff.

So, where does Jeremiah Tolbert fit in as "Managing Editor of Escape Pod" (Ep:190)? Somewhere near the top of the left root? (It forks down, so it's not a "branch")

I feed The Pod.

Inara works for Escape Artists generally, not just Escape Pod.

Also, Matt Arnold works for Escape Artists generally. I might put them on their own separate branch.

And yeah, as I understand it, Jeremy would "rank" under Steve.

Matt came onboard to do administrative stuff for the podcasts, but I think he's moved more specifically into mailings and working with the CDs... I'm not totally sure what his duties are now, to be honest. Maybe he'll poke in and tell us. :)

EA also has an official tech person now, though come to think of it, I don't know his name.

Inara has a general exotic feel, and Deluna could mean "of the moon".

Cat Rambo is John's sister Kate.

Ezerebet Yellowboy sounds like an insult for some mixed race Asian kid.

Matt Arnold mainly runs poddisc.com, so you can purchase archive discs of EA podcasts (and increasingly many other podcasts as well).  "Inara De Luna" is three names, technically.  Other spellings: Jeremiah Tolbert and Ben Phillips (two L's).  Pseudopod as of fairly recently has a second slush reader, Shawn Garrett.  Also on the administrative wing is Paul Haring, accountant, and Rob Wynne, system administrator.  Steve Eley, as president and owner, probably goes beside me or something since you can't really outrank the guy who owns the place.

I would have just modified the post for you but it was too hard to get my text editor to cooperate properly.  :(  And anyway I don't know how all that will fit.  All the administrative-wing crew (Inara, Paul, Rob, and Matt) are all directly under me with no real relative ranking -- although you're more than welcome to make one up if it's easier that way.

Uh oh.  Jeremiah is spelled "Jerimiah" on the org chart.  Can you please tell me if the spelling in the org chart is correct or a typo?  I just sent a submission to him, and if the org chart spelling is correct, I need to a) send an apology to him for my misspelling and b) ask ralan.com to fix the spelling error in his submission listing.

Hmm

Is Norm Sherman still officially a co-host?  He's done a few lately, and I hope that continues.

I see that Pseudopod has 3 submissions editors to read slush, and I believe Ann Leckie does the same for Podcastle.  Does anyone read slush for EP or does everything go straight to Mur?  Is that one of the duties of the assistant to the regional manager?  Just curious.  :)

The entirety of the slush pile going to one person would likely be some sort of OSHA violation.

Ha, well it has been done before at other mags, so I didn't consider it entirely out of the question, though for it to work Mur would have to have some kind of time-warping powers to allow her to read all that slush AND record her writing podcast AND actually get fiction writing done AND other things in her life.  :P

Although, I'm thinking that maybe all the students have time turners and they use them all the time.  That would explain why, in the more recent movies, they all look much older than they ought to.

So is this a linear chain of command?  Do I, as submissions editor, have the power to overrule Eytanz the Moderator while being co-equal with Eytanz the Submissions Editor?  Or do Eytanz' roles combine so he gets like 1.5 ranks to pull on me?

(Also, it's cool to use my real name, if anyone cares.)

I just want to know what Podcastle's doing that they need an associative editor. (And resisting the joke about keeping her locked down, because lord knows what damage a free associative editor could do. Except now I really haven't resisted the joke. Arg.)

Psst... now this org chart is REALLY out of date!

Okay - being a person who doesn't like to mention a problem without having a solution, I give you:

Escape Artists, Inc.'s own Wikia

As one of EA's new volunteer Intern Corps members (power rings not included), I've started building this on the Wikia platform (owned and operated by the same folks who run the Wikimedia Foundation, which I also support as a donor).

If you are on the Staff, I urge you to check it out...and make sure that it does you justice. So far, I've only made a few bio pages, based off what I could find in the author/reader bios provided publicly.  (Example: Scattercat's bio.)

I plan to give you all a chance to kick the tires and tell me what you think it needs before taking to the forum to ask for edits from the general community. If you have questions, you can contact me through the forum, any of my public links (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) or at tcallin@escapeartists.net

And I want to offer a fond personal thank you for the work you all do here. Even when I haven't been as involved in the community as I might have wanted over the years, your work has been a real inspiration and joy to me.

Cheers,
Tad
