PC Miniature 34: The Orange
« on: July 03, 2009, 11:58:25 AM »
PodCastle Miniature 34: The Orange

by Benjamin Rosenbaum.
Read by Paul S. Jenkins (of the Rev Up Review).

It was an unexpected thing, the temporary abdication of Heavenly Providence, entrusting the whole matter to a simple orange.

Rated G. with playful, fruity flavors.
I Twitter. I also occasionally blog on the Escape Pod blog, which if you're here you shouldn't have much trouble finding.

I really, really liked this one. Not sure I can explain why, just the combination of quirkiness with surprising philosophical depth.

Cute.

But I wouldn't trust an orange to rule the world. No sir. Damn pulpy things...

This made me chuckle.  Perhaps even chortle.

This was a sweet story. Lush with juicy detail. Certainly has broad a peal :p

Yes, best to give up the navel-gazing and move on to the Next New Tang.

(Hey, don't get pithed off at me - you all started it.)

Okay, back to the daily rind.

This is becoming unbearable, no pun intended.

Didn't really appreciate this one. It didn't resonate with me for whatever reason. Probably TOO absurdist.

I got a chuckle out of this one, but overall, not terribly impressed.  An A for originality though, which is hard to find sometimes.
