Yay! Exhalation totally deserved it, as did Graveyard Book.

Personally I'm happy about Girl Genius, which is an awesome webcomic.  And just the fact that there *is* a "Best Graphic Story" category now.

Go Chiang (and at least this time around he didn't do something silly like decline the nomination because he didn't like how the story came out -- I think Liking What You See was just great).

Seriously, anyone who liked Exhalation, and isn't familiar with the rest of his body of work (or, like me, have only caught one or two in magzines/anthologies over the years), pick up Chiang's compilation Stories Of Your Lives And Others and see if he doesn't become one of your all-time favorite writers.  It's a shame that the industry has become so novel-centric, because if it weren't I think Chiang would be one of the big names of current SF.

(Oh and also YAY YAY YAY Wall*E!)

it's great that girl genius got recognized, online serials can be pretty good.

on that note, i find myself surprisingly annoyed that they took a day off from the story to accept the award online.  i know, i know... it's petty.  it's small.  but i can't help myself: Tarvek's dieing, what's going on‽

it's also interesting that schlock mercenary got a nomination and sluggy freelance didn't.  both are good but sluggy gets preference in my bookmark placements.
