I have a sneaking suspicion that since Alisdair is from the UK, he doesn't like being called "Al".

"Al" feels to me like a very... please forgive me... North American contraction and I'm not sure it suits him. Feels like calling him "Dubya".

Comments?

Everyone calls him Al.

At least they don't call him Big Gay Al, 'cause then he'd have to get a boat.

Al prefers to be called Al.

At least that's how he signs his emails...

He actually does commonly go by Al.  And it's easier to spell correctly than Alasdair.  Although if you're going to misspell it, you should misspell it Aleister after Miiiiiiiister Crowley (dun-dun-dun!), since Al is, after all, our Master of Ceremonies.

Paul Simon on Graceland.  Garfunkel wasn't involved.

You're right, I was thinking it was a duo but what of course I was thinking of was the music video where Chevy Chase stood in for Garfunkel.

Chevy Chase stood in for Paul Simon.  Paul Simon was the soloists [edit]and backup singer[/edit].

Youtube

Still really funny.
