Since I thought this discussion might wind up spun off the comments section from EP 220, I thought I'd just start by posting my thoughts here....
This is an actual letter Einstein wrote to a guy after reading his book. It explores his thoughts on "God" and related subjects. It's interesting reading (and does suggest his spiritual position might be ascribed as "atheist").

Yes, his opinions seem pretty atheist based on that letter.
