This round is kind of a mixed bag.  I am excited to see the results.

Updates from past polls:
From Group 3, Scream will move on to the Semi-Finals winning first place  :-\ , while [REC] and The Devil's Backbone will have to have tie-breaker poll since they tied for second place.

From Group 4, The Exorcist and The Omen tied for first place and will both move on in the competition.

I wouldn't feel too conflicted about Scream. It did a phenomenal job of dissecting the slasher flick and feeding it to us, but I don't think it's going to come out on top of the pile.

Also, remember, if you have questions or want to know more about the movies in the poll, they are all linked to their info page on IMDB (except for a couple) which typically have trailers, too.

I remember watching Poltergeist in high school with my best gal and we were both freaked out.  Just watched it on cable with my wife and thought it was ridiculous.  It just didn't hold up for me.

Poltergeist Carrie and the Original Frankenstein.

Poltergeist got some creep points especially for the spoiled food.

Carrie for the bucket of blood

Frankenstein, because Boris Karloff as the monster is THE Definitive Frankenstein Monster.  None have come close since.  The movie still holds up better than any other version I have ever seen.  (I have seen most except for May)

But Carrie still has zero votes on the poll?

Doh, someone posted what they were voting for without voting.  Now how did that happen?

I voted for Poltergeist.  I was pregnant when I saw it and the thought of having my child taken from me by a monster in the closet was the scariest thing I could imagine.  The swimming pool scared the crap out of me too.

I never thought Carrie was scary at all.  Maybe that's because I emphasized with Carrie. It was more a commentary on teen cruelty and I found it very sad.

There is currently a 3-way tie for 2nd place.  A true monster mash: Frankenstien vs. Poltergeist vs. Werewolf.  Last day to vote.

:D  That's OK.  We can deal with how the votes come down one way or another.

Carrie wasn't as scary as I'd hoped (I tend to compare adaptations to their novel/short story counterparts). It had knee-jerk, though, and got darned emotional in some places.

I'm looking for The Blob in one of these polls. I loved that movie. It certainly made me think about mucus differently, even if it didn't bring me to hard-knot fear.

I finally got 700 monkeys. Now all I need is 700 typewriters and some way to live for 700 years...
