Last week was close!  Pern came in just one vote behind China Miéville's Las Bag series.  That had taken an early lead, but eventually dropped to one vote behind Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser.  The thieving duo were on top of the poll for awhile, but eventually came in one vote behind Wizard of Earthsea.  Ged takes the top spot!  Fafhrd and the Mouser move on as well.  Perdido Street Station and Pern do not.  Neither does Dragonbone Chair, thus breaking Talia's heart.

This week we have a master storyteller from the century before last, a dimension traveling royal family, telepathic horses, a winter that lasts several years, a dozen magic swords, an unending stream of puns and panties, a not-dead boy, and some rabbits.

Bas Lag, I weep for you! May the slake-moths spare your dreams, may the avanc deliver you from your own Armada, may Sprial Jacobs be swallowed by his own sorcery, may the next issue of Runagate Rampant be delivered to me in some dark alley STAT, and may the revolution come the hour after, with Remade and fReemade mantis claw in mantis claw!

The " Oh, please, shoot-me-now!" uniform totally gave you away!

Snicker, snicker.

Wow, some absolute giants of the field battling it out this week!

I, of course, know who should win, but I think I'll just wait and see.

(Hint -- I'm kinda joking)

I've never personally understood why the Amber series is always THE thing by Zelazny that everyone knows and loves.  He was a brilliant short story author.

I've actually read most of this list, except the Gaiman and the Lackey. And my wife assures me that Lackey is worth the read. Haven't heard of this particular Gaiman book.

The big ones are Ice And Fire and Amber. I'm just glad I get to vote for both.

I'm not sure why Watership Down is getting the votes. I found it dull.

THE Zelazny thing for me is Lord of Light. Amber is great and all, but Light is, well, awesome.

My personal favorite is "Jack of Shadows," a book that explains nothing and ends with a literal cliffhanger.  This probably explains a lot about the way I write.

Now that you mention it, Lord Of Light is pretty darn awesome.

In all likelihood - someone breaks the tie in the next three days.  Otherwise, all three get put in the second place runoff poll with Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM, The Jungle Book, and The Crystal Cave.

Oops, sorry. For some stupid reason I thought the poll was done.

I'll just see myself out, shall I?

Voting numbers are a bit down this week.  Last day to vote!
