I'm going to bring Looker back before resurrections close. I thought it was killed off much earlier than it deserved. Well composed characters and a creepy and chilling "monster". Add some analogy layers and it makes a really solid story.

Poor little basement dweller. I fear you will be gone soon. No one believes your story about the dwarf. If it makes you feel any better, *I* believe you. Never trust a dwarf. Don't get me wrong, I can't keep you out of prison, but I'm with you in spirit.

A fine story but not the best the year has to offer. I'll reluctantly accept the consensus placement in the top 10, but the dead hearts should go with the rest of the dead.

And then there were 10. So the Slaughterhouse Top 10 are:

[8] 262: Black Hill by Orrin Grey
[8] 236: Dearest Daughter by Kate Marshall
[8] 239: The Line by Grady J. Gratt
[7] 244: Bruise For Bruise by Robert Davies
[6] 240: Songs for Dead Hearts by Mandana Faridani
[6] 237: Lights by J. Westlake
[5] 247: Looker by David Nickle
[4] 226: The Sound Of Gears by Ferrett Steinmetz
[3] 222: Terrible Lizard King by Nathaniel Lee
[2] 259: To My Wondering Eyes Did Appear by Larry C. Kay

As a reminder for any who stumble into this pit that no further resurrections are allowed. Only stories from the final ten may stay until there is a clear and bloody victory.

All cat stories start with this statement: “My mother, who was the first cat, told me this...”
