I was gonna stay out of this one but it's such an AWESOME idea I think I won't.  I firmly believe great narration can raise a story to a whole different level.  I also believe that -- at times -- narrators don't get enough kudos (and no, that is NOT a plea to vote for me!!) In which case my top 3 are:

Pseudopod 225: Top Of The Heap by Nathan Robinson, Read by Ben Phillips
Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: What Makes You Tick by David Steffen, Read by W. Ralph Walters
Pseudopod 250: The Voice in the Night by William Hope Hodgson, Read by Wilson Fowlie

but I also hugely enjoyed:

Pseudopod 222: Terrible Lizard King by Nathaniel Lee, Read by Steve Anderson
Pseudopod 230: Girls Gone Insane by John Jasper Owens, Read by George Hrab
Pseudopod 239: The Line by Grady J. Gratt, Read by Mark E. Phair
Pseudopod 257: In “The Poor Girl Taken By Surprise” by Gemma Files, Read by Julia Rios
Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: Hunting by Kirsty Logan, Read by Rick Stringer

I really enjoy the variety of Pseudopod narrators! It can become dull when the "usual suspects" always turn up :)

Top 3:
Pseudopod 222: Terrible Lizard King by Nathaniel Lee, Read by Steve Anderson
Pseudopod 248: Killing Merwin Remis by Jason Helmandollar, Read by Big Anklevich
Pseudopod 255: Flash on The Borderlands IX - It’s War!: King by C. Deskin Rink, Read by V.O. Bloodfrost

Honorable Mentions:
Pseudopod 229: On Being Mandy by Sandra M. Odell, Read by Tina Connolly
Pseudopod 255: Flash on The Borderlands IX - It’s War!: War by Aaron Ashley Garrison, Read by Dominic Rabrun

This category is a bit easier. There's been a bunch of great readings this year, but a few stuck out to me as elevating the story an extra level.

My nominations:
Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: What Makes You Tick by David Steffen, Read by W. Ralph Walters

The voice used in the reading and minor sound editing tweaks in this one really established the character.

Pseudopod 246: The Eater by Michael J. DeLuca, Read by Laurice White

Laurice is a fantastic reader. I love the slow deliberate pacing she uses in this story, which makes the story about the development of language even stronger.

Pseudopod 255: Flash on The Borderlands IX - It’s War!: War by Aaron Ashley Garrison, Read by Dominic Rabrun

The accent in this one really worked for me. Hollywood has associated in my mind that accent with meatheads, which drove home the unmitigated violence of the game.

Not eligible for nomination, but must be mentioned:
Trio of Terror: “The Yellow Curse” read by Alasdair Stewart

Honorable mentions:
Pseudopod 229: On Being Mandy by Sandra M. Odell, Read by Tina Connolly
Pseudopod 236: Dearest Daughter by Kate Marshall, Read by Grammar Girl
Pseudopod 242: The 7 Garages of Kevin Simpson by Alan Baxter, Read by Graeme Dunlop
Pseudopod 250: The Voice in the Night by William Hope Hodgson, Read by Wilson Fowlie
Pseudopod 253: Trying To Stay Dead
Pseudopod 259: To My Wondering Eyes Did Appear by Larry C. Kay, Read by Stephanie Morris
Pseudopod 262: Black Hill by Orrin Grey, Read by Rich Girardi

I will finish up with a lament for recurring readers we need to hear in 2012: Ian Stewart and The Word Whore.

A tough category, you guys have really good narrators in general, although a few are on a higher level.

My Nominations:
1:Pseudopod 259: To My Wondering Eyes Did Appear by Larry C. Kay, Read by Stephanie Morris
2: Pseudopod 257: In “The Poor Girl Taken By Surprise” by Gemma Files, Read by Julia Rios
3: Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: Pageant Girls by Caroline Yoachim, Read by MIGHTY Mur Lafferty

Honorable Mentions:
(There were lots of other good narrators this year, but these ones were all seriously in contention for my favorite.)
4: Pseudopod 262: Black Hill by Orrin Grey, Read by Rich Girardi
5: Pseudopod 253: Trying To Stay Dead by Richard S. Crawford, Read by Steve Anderson
6: Pseudopod 225: Top Of The Heap by Nathan Robinson, Read by Ben Phillips
7: Pseudopod 222: Terrible Lizard King by Nathaniel Lee, Read by Steve Anderson
8: Pseudopod 250: The Voice in the Night by William Hope Hodgson, Read by Wilson Fowlie

Difficult for me - outside of the obvious (I love each and every one of them!), I'll just have to go for the ones that pleased me to no end.  Honorable Mentions I'll stick with ones that haven't gotten mentioned much by others:

My Nominations
Pseudopod 239: The Line by Grady J. Gratt, Read by Mark E. Phair
You can't imagine how hard it was to find a fitting voice for this - or how pleased I was with Mark's job.

Pseudopod 241: In Bloom by Caspian Gray, Read by Julie Hoverson
The prefect reading of the perfect line.  One of my favorite finds from last year (thanks to Cast Macabre)

Pseudopod 245: Blue Eyes by Jay Caselberg, Read by Jen Williams
Probably the most *authentic* voice we've had for a story.

Honorable Mentions
Pseudopod 221: Lives by John Grant, Read by Eric Luke
Completely delivers the subtle, slow build of suspense and sells the emotional fatigue of the ending.

Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: What Makes You Tick by David Steffen, Read by W. Ralph Walters
W. Ralph Walters knew exactly what I was asking for (and Graeme knew how to tweak it!)

Pseudopod 228: Flash On The Borderlands VII - Tableaux & Displays: Pageant Girls by Caroline Yoachim, Read by Mur Lafferty
I had a friend, who never listened to any EA casts, listen to this whol episode and the first thing he asked was "who was that reading the last story?  She was great!"

Pseudopod 234: I.C.U. by Tim Burke, Read by Cayenne Chris Conroy
Hard to pull of this level of subtlety and emotional honesty.

Pseudopod 250: The Voice in the Night by William Hope Hodgson, Read by Wilson Fowlie
Excellent work with difficult material - turn of the century phraseology is tough!

So I'm curious, why is Pseudopod the only 'cast running a best narrator poll?  You guys certainly have good narrators, but EP and PC are no slouches either.

To be honest, EP isn't running the poll because I've been too busy (in RL) to come up with the narrator list. I know there's an EP reader index but it's been a while since I've updated it, and I don't have time to do so right now.
