Where can I find "The Phasing Spider Menace" and other out of print Daikaiju albums!?

I will crush and burn cities to find them.  argh!  -_-

I was catching up on old EP episodes and heard that The Phasing Spider Menace was offered on poddisc.com, but it was an old episode so when I went to check... nothing.  Checked ebay, checked amazon, any other ideas?

Not much of a help, but you can save your searches at ebay.  For up to a year they will email you anything that fits your criteria.  That way if one does come up, you won't miss it and you don't have to keep going back to look.

This seems like a suitable thread to resurrect.
Since starting to listen to Escape Pod and almost simultaneously-but-coincidentally begun to listen to Surf/Instro music, Daikaiju is my newest, favouritest, band! (pushing "Ghosts and Vodka" into 2nd or 3rd place).

At wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_Pod_%28podcast%29 - it says:
Quote
Escape Pod's music is provided by surf rock band Daikaiju with the band's permission. The opening theme is the instrumental song "The Final Phase," and the closing theme is "Choujikuu Mitsukai" ("Super-Dimensional Angels"). Both are from the album The Phasing Spider Menace, which will be brought back into print as a joint venture between Daikaiju and Escape Pod in late 2006.

Are those indeed the song titles?

On http://www.daikaiju.org/daikaiju/merch.html it sez:
Quote
Daikaiju
The self-titled, first full-length album released by Reptile Records.
Format: CD
Songs:
1. Daikaiju Die!
2. Attack of the Crab Women
3. The Trouble With Those Mothra Girls
4. Sharkakhan
5. Showdown in Shinjuku
6. The Daikaiju Who Loved Me
7. Son of Daikaiju
8. Incognito
9. Super X-9
10. Farewell to Monster Island
Price: $12

The Daikaiju Who Loved Me
Released August 2003
Format: 7" Vinyl @ 45rpm
Songs:
1. Daikaiju - The Daikaiju Who Loved Me
2. The Anacondas - El Niño
Price: SOLD OUT!!!

The Phasing Spider Menace
Released February 2002
Format: Enhanced CD-R EP
Songs:
1. The Phasing Spider Menace
2. Choujikuu Mitsukai
3. The Final Phase
4. Rising Up From The Depths Of Time (Live)
5. Sharkakhan (Live)
6. The Final Phase (Live)
7. Incognito (Live)
8. Son Of Daikaiju (Live)
+ Live videos of The Final Phase, Incognito, and Son of Daikaiju
Price: SOLD OUT!

Heavy Surf (Compilation)
[snip]

Note the  "Format: Enhanced CD-R EP" and "+ Live videos of The Final Phase, Incognito, and Son of Daikaiju" references, but only for the TPSM CD.

Now, I've found a number of places to buy the recent self-titled one, but there appear to be two flavours of it. On eBay f'instance, you get hits both for Daikaiju [Enhanced] and for Daikaiju. (Sadly, no hits for The Phasing Spider Menace CD on eBay, yet.)

On Amazon.ca, - http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007GAER6/escapepod-20
 - just the "Enhanced" version.

http://www.daikaiju.org/daikaiju/merch.html sez nothing about "Dikaiju [Enhanced]".

getting to the point(s)...
- Are there two versions of the Daikaiju (self-titled) CD... "Enhanced" and vanilla?
- Anybody know what the "Enhanced" content is?
I tend to get paranoid whenever I suspect that there may a choice to be made, and I do not have a clear notion as to what the choices are in getting the biggest bang for my buck. Hence all the quoting, to provide documentation in support of my paranoia.

finally (and I think I just figured this out)
- Daikaiju(S/T) has (apparently) a publication date of  2005.

On their myspace blog it sez.

 DAIKAIJU - PHASE 5

Ritual molting transformation continues to fight the crippling effect of multiple decapitations, but soon, it will be revealed--

THE NEW POWER DAIKAIJU!!!

So, that "Phase 5" has yet to be released? For the past couple of days, I thought that the self-titled CD was Phase 5, until I did some counting on http://www.daikaiju.org/daikaiju/merch.html .

Did that scheme fall through? Sad

According to amazon.co.uk, the enhanced CD contains an 11th track....

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daikaiju/dp/B0007GAER6/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1205413852&sr=8-1

I ordered my copy from the very same page but the one I received only had the normal 10 tracks. Still one of the best CDs I own though Smiley

Cant wait for whatever Phase 5 turns out to be. I'm guessing both EscapeFromNebulaMySpaceHunter and ShootingTheWormHole will be on it. Both are on the myspace page with ? ? ? and  2007 Reptile Records  as the album info Smiley

Ah. Well then, I guess I'll go with my plan to get it from one of the eBay stores. If they say it's Enhanced, then it might be easier to dispute if it does not have the 11th track.

Is there any way Stephen can persuade Daikaiju to let him put the two Escape Pod tunes on the next Escape Pod compulation CD, now that the tunes are out of print?  I can't even find them as downloads.

I bring news from a far-off land forum.
(surfguitar101.com, in a thread about upcoming Daikaiju performances )

Thank you for the kind words! (^_^) More Daikaiju shows upcoming...
A pity I cannot get to see any of those, due to great distances.  Sad

In the meantime, what's the story on "Phase 5"? Is this a new CD?

Also, any possibility of a re-issue of "The Phasing Spider Menace" CD?

Phase 5 = last Daikaiju line-up... now in Phase 6

New Daikaiju album will include a new version of TPSM.

I concur! I would love it if Daikaiju could be persueded to at least release the "Escape Pod Title Track" as a single download purchase on iTunes or their own site at the VERY least!

I bought their self-titled CD and have enjoyed it but am generally not so into surf music. I would, however, love to have that track as a ringtone on my iPhone!!

Hi all - not sure if you'll ever see this, but wanted to thank all of you. I'm a member of the group form that time who plays on the tracks Escape Pod uses. I'd be happy to upload some .wav or .flac versions of whatever you're interested in. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have about the different versions floating around.

Best regards,

D.L.

I hope you check back and read this, D.L. I heard of your group through Escape Pod and as a result have bought and downloaded every bit of your music that I can find. I've also done what I can to share your music around and everybody that hears it loves it too.

I hope you are all doing well, and whether you are still an active band or not, i hope you'll be proud that you have made people happy all around the world.

By all means, hit me with any unreleased or hard to find music you may have! I can be reached by PM here, through Twitter @mat_weller or directly by email at matweller@gmail.com

Those in or near Atlanta can go check out Daikaiju at the Rockabilly Luau (http://www.rockabillyluau.com) on August 4, 2012.
