I hereby propose that all interested parties solemnly swear that they are up to no good to compose and post in the Critique Group at least one new story per month.  The deadline I suggest as the 15th of each month so as to give a little room for this first round and also because that way we can call it "The Ides" and have it be all allusive and shiznit.

So far parties who have voiced interest:

From the front page, this thread just looks like "The Ides of Butt."  LOLbutts.

It says "The Ides of Butt In" for me (probably because my handle has fewer letters), which is funny in its own way. A festival dedicated to joining conversations to which you weren't invited? Sounds like fun! ;)

I'm going to have to decline this, as I'm currently working on a novel. Perhaps when there's a Tax Day version?

OK, I'm in...

Though the hard part may be getting three crits done so I can post a story.

Huzzah!! :D

What do you mean by 3 crits? If you mean the old crit forum rules, I have it on good authority those don't apply anymore (or at least, not unless things get out of control and they're needed again). You can just post and/or crit as you find the time, or not at all if you're too busy.

I was referring to the old crit forum rules.  It's still something I'll try to do because I want to be more involved with the Crit Forum, and it seems like a reasonable rule, but if it gets down to crunch time, I'll post regardless.

I guess I'm in too, though I can't promise quality.  Everyone, please note that I'm in the throes of a rather awesome cold, so I may be delirious.  Don't let me weasel my way out later when I come to my senses.  No matter how I protest, hold me to it.

I need more meds.

I'm in, at least for flash pieces.

How do you feel about reading short film scripts/comic book scripts?

Obviously it's a different beast than prose, but I'm not against the idea of including them.

I'm perfectly willing to read them, but my opinion is probably pretty worthless.

Don't worry, I'll have mine in today. Between two jobs and a sick wife, things just got really crazy this week. But it'll be done by this afternoon.

Nice job getting it in, Cutter. I'm not sure how you managed it.

I read a few of the stories today. I will probably read a few more over the rest of the week. Mostly: Good job, all :)

I'm in, as well. I'm writing at least one story a month as is (although some months all I get done is flash, so I hope that's OK). Do we have to post them on the Ides of Butt, or by?

I don't necessarily write a story every month, but this is a good incentive, and I have some older stories that I think could use some help.

Very cool.

For me, it's been incredibly helpful to have something to work toward, and helped me better prioritize my own writing.

Love to join here is brief sample of writing.

Worship the Warship.
From out of a clear blue day the recommisioned warship, Worship steamed into kokoma harbour at five past eleven in the morning just before lunch.
The admiral of the fleet whose name was Michelle had recently been given command of the warship and as was her wont. She had ther crew execute maneauvour 26, which was two interwoven loops that looked somewhat like a butterfly or moth.
Later or Michelle had a pie for lunch and commended the sailors under her command for dressing very nicely and said they could have the rest of the day off to get their nails done or perhaps get nice dress in the style of Marilyn monroe or Betty Grable.
The sailors leapt at the chance to stretch their landlegs and threw their hats into the air several times until a swarm of moths swooped in and took wing with their funny little hats.
The admiral who was making a surprise inspection made all of the sailors walk the plank for something to do and his daughter also had to walk the plank... although she had just had her hair done and so she wasn't too pleased about it.
