Rick and Morty is a cartoon on Adult Swim (yeah, that already lost a bunch of people but hear me out) about a mad scientist named Rick and his sidekick/grandson Morty.  The dynamic is Back To The Future + Mr. Peabody + Dr. Who; but WAY more drunk and nihilistic.  Rick drags Morty along on adventures through a multiverse, mostly using his Portal Gun (yeah, kind of like that one, but not entirely), in which Rick uses everything and everyone around him to his own ends with little to no empathy or remorse, while constantly drunk and drooling on himself.  Morty is a wussy, horny nerd who is easily manipulated by his sociopathic grandfather.  The rest of Morty's family, his school, and occasionally the entire human race get dragged into things from time to time, as well.  The show ranges from pretty funny to goddamned hilarious.

There is little concern for continuity, you can watch the show in any order; but if you want to give it a try to see if you're interested, start with episode 5, "Meeseeks and Destroy."  If that doesn't hook you nothing will.

Choicest quote of the series:  "Boy Morty, I really Cronenberged the world up, didn't I?"

It is definitely a well written show. I watched the early premier, I wasn't aware it had started in earnest yet. Thanks for the head's up :)

This is why you don't go through a inter-dimensional hole without a wiener Summer.
