Greetings, PodCastle denizens. Recent weeks have brought some editorial shifts to the table which are worthy of note.

As previously announced, editors Kitty NicIaian and Dawn Phynix were scheduled to take over for Dave Thompson and Anna Schwind this month. They put in lots of good work behind the scenes, but are no longer able to step into those roles. We wish them all the best as they move on to new adventures.

In their place, Dave and Anna have tapped Rachael K. Jones and Graeme Dunlop as the new co-editors of PodCastle.

To help with the transition, PC submissions will be temporary closed during April while the upcoming schedule is arranged. We’re unable to proceed with the the previously scheduled quarterly themed anthology, but all open submissions will be read, considered, and responded to before we reopen for new submissions.

Further details are available on the website's announcement post.

Thanks everyone!

Good luck to the new editors!

I think with Grame's voice, he would make for a very forceful boss:  "To all staff:  Due to rising dairy prices, we are requesting that employees now only take one packet of cream cheese with the courtesy bagels in the break room.  I expect everyone voluntarily to follow this new policy to avoid any problems."

If Grame were to say that in his Pseudopod Narrator voice, I would become a bagel-hating vegan just to be on the safe side.

The announcement goes over the PA system that is connected to the phones on every desk. The round red light pulses a malevolent slow throb at the top of the phone display. Graeme sets the microphone down and settles in his co-editor chair with the crown weighing heavily on his pantherish brow to prowl the corridors of his mind:

He's almost settled into a really proper bout of brooding when Varda breaks through the door with her double-barreled rainbow maker.

Wait, this is the image association thread, isn't it?  Oops.  Uh, welcome to Anna and Dave!

What is the subgenre of fantasy that is shiny happy rainbow grimdark? Because the unicorn from the LEGO Movie is the patron saint.

Also I didn't eat the last bagel. I totally left half of a cinnamon raisin in the break room.

Just to be clear: while PodCastle is temporarily closed to *story* submissions, we are ALWAYS open to bagel submissions.

Please sub us all your unpublished bagels, people! (I'll take mine with strawberry cream cheese, please)

I'll just wait here by the bagel box...

Three Bagels for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven Bagels for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine Bagels for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One Bagel for the Dark Lord on his dark throne

The PodCastle Bagel Box is a diverse bagel box! There's something in it for everyone. :)

Rachael & Graeme - I'm afraid I don't have any bagels that are submission-worthy right now. There may be a half-finished bagel gathering dust somewhere in my attic, but I think it may not be salvagable.

This announcement has demanded so much squee that there is now a worldwide squee shortage.

For reals, if I had to pick two editors myself to replace Dave and Anna, I can't think of two better people to fill the position.

You know, I realized I congratulated them in private but not here, so let me just join in the chorus - this is great news. Not to imply anything negative about Kitty and Dawn, but they were unknown quantities to me, while Rachael and Graeme have a proven history with EA, and are two of the most talented, clever, and pleasant people I know. I can't wait to see how Podcastle continues to develop under their guidance.
