I recently read an excerpt of Ulysses that contained that line.  I didn't know where it came from before that.

I remember reading someone accepting a proposal of marriage in a Sci Fi novel or story (at least, I think it was SF).  Anyone have any idea what story/book?

Found it!

It was in "The World on Blood" by Jonathan Nasaw.  So suspense/horror/fantasy, not technically SF depending on who you ask, but still.  And it wasn't a proposal of marriage, but something related to a character finding out about vampires.

Wow, could I possibly have been more off.   :-[

Could have been Danielle Steele.
