Thanks. This was encryption software that did it. I think it corrupted the file header or individual sector.

I went ahead and self-published a collection of five of my short fiction tales. Among other things, the collection features a 2009 Parsec (short fiction) finalist.

The book is available for the Kindle, Kobo, Nook, or compatible apps.

Click right here to head over to the overview page for the book.

The description:

Quote
Malevolent, metal-scavenging microdrones ("Paston, Kentucky"). A collector's car with a mind of its own, off for a drive through a nuclear holocaust (the two-time award-nominated "Best in Class"). An experienced climber tackling the most dangerous alien obstacle in the universe ("Spired"). These and other stories await the reader in Jonathan C. Gillespie's debut short fiction collection, which brings together five killer tales from the author's publishing history.

Some of the works are available in free audio elsewhere, at various well-regarded podcast sites (see the author's official site for more details), but this book features all-new versions, revised for content – and even better quality.

Prepare to enjoy these SOJOURNS THROUGH TROUBLED WORLDS.

We'll see how it flies.

Whew. Long time since I updated.

This venture has panned out into three other works. One short got such good feedback I'm turning it into a serial called the Beacon saga. The Tyrant Strategy: Revenant Man is slowly picking up steam; it has a sequel coming soon, too.
