I loved it at first, last time. Then it got REAL boring. But I didn't have any money, kids or hobbies. Sounds like fun now... + money I mean. lol.

The three ways to make napalm: One, you can mix equal parts of gasoline and frozen orange juice concentrate.  Two, you can mix equal parts of gasoline and diet cola.  Three, you can dissolve crumbled cat litter in gasoline until the mixture is thick.

I think you missed one--Styrofoam dissolved in gasoline.

I have to agree. with the exception of about a month as a temp I have been unemployed since the end of April.  It sucks big time.  I was at GenCon due to a Friend who picked up the tab for hotel/events, but I had no spending money. >:(  Saw some awesome games, not to mention SF/Fantasy geek stuff (Like My Little Cthulhu Figurines).  Though I did get to play Arkham Horror and Cosmic Encounter so there were highlights.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions, though I don't think I'll be making napalm anytime soon... LOL.

It's comforting to know I am not the only one who's gone through this. So, for your stories and encouragement, thanks. It helped take some of the sting off.

Lowky's idea works.  The ones from Fight Club don't.  At least that's what I hear anyway...

I was Lead Instructional Designer for a telecommunications training company. I'd been there 9 years.

and I was last working as a personal assistant, but my degree is in microbiology and I want to get back into the field, but it's difficult finding jobs, when alot of them have gone to temp to hire, which only want to consider local candidates.  I am about to the point where I will take anything for a job again which is how I wound up working as a personal assistant.  It may be time to go back to school instead.  I don't know. *shrug*

Architect. Back on again but damn. Being laid off sure was nice.... *sigh* Freaking mortgage.

It's a great time to go balls out on some pet project, Unless you're running out of food money. And 9 years? Fuck them man, that sucks. I can see how that would sting. Like a lover leaving you. Well screw her Derego, she's a whore!

I've heard that the best way to deal with a distressing situation is to take action, but I've never been one to put that in practice.

I'm a lot more likely to curl up in a fetal position and suck my thumb and whimper until someone takes pity on me enough to clear things up for me.

Then I think, What Would Jesus Do? And the answer always comes back, Jesus would let the Romans arrest, torture, and crucify him in order to serve the Greater Good. Ouch, I don't like that.

You always hear the story of the writer, who was right on the edge, when they hit it.  Rowling is the current example.  Maybe this just means something is getting ready to break your way big time.

I hope so. I've been querying lit agents and pitching a collection of 15 Union Dues stories and my Tears of Amaterasu novel.

If any of you know any reputable agents, please put them in touch with me :) (after talking up the UD stories first... LOL)
