WNYC's Radio Lab (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/) had a really good show on the 1938 radio broadcast. I really liked how they attempted to build in the context and explain why 1/12 people freaked out.

That reminds me.
The October 2006 episode of The Time Traveler Show podcast included an old radio interview with both Orson Welles and H. G. Wells, together in the studio. That was pretty cool.

I've been listening to the Radio Lab podcast for quite a while now.  It's really great.  I just got around to this episode and I was blown away.  They really went into this.  Radio clips from not only the show but from other boadcasts of the era and the background info was fantastic.

While we're talking about War of the Worlds, here's a fantastic comic adaptation of HG Wells novel. (http://www.darkhorse.com/zones/wotw/wotw_popup.php?p=0)  And it's up on the web for free, which we always like. 

This was published by Dark Horse, with really beautiful art by D'Israeli.

I liked the version in the second League of Extraordinary Gentlemen arc best.  But I haven't yet seen the adaptation you mention.

I had been meaning to subscribe to the podcast of that show, and this reminded me to do it. The first show I listened to was the one you mentioned. I found it fascinating the sequence of events that let to so many tuning in five minutes late. I always wondered that surely there was some intro to the show to let people know it was a radio drama.

And thanks for the DH link... definitely going to check that out.
