Title: Galactica Returns Tonight (10 PM EST/PST, 9PM CST)[spoilers]
Post by: Heradel on April 05, 2008, 01:18:52 AM
Spoiler alert's up there since any not watching tonight's going to want to avoid this like the plague.

Everyone feel free to jump in once it's aired, your predictions (http://forum.escapeartists.info/index.php?topic=1451.0) will begun getting put to the test tonight —so either you get to gloat or shirk away quietly to a corner.

Good luck, and frak the toasters.

"live"foruming below——
10:12 — Totally thought Adama was dead. But instead, we find out that they're still human where it counts. Also, Anders' eyes are MAGIC!!1

10:15 — Seriously? Saffron-robe-disguised-as-blanket? Someone's taking a lot of material from Lama Buddhism.

10:18 — Not sure what is more disturbing, Baltar pretending to be holy, or Starbuck's return.

10:21 — Scratch that, Baltar is.

10:23 — There be wormholes?

10:25 — 3 & 3 make shadowy cylons in the background.

10:29 — Why are there no male followers of Baltarianism?

10:33 — Something tells me Roslin won't react calmly.

10:36 — I wonder how long they're going to keep us waiting with the whole what-is-she bit?

10:40 — Wasn't there some movie with Jodie Foster about a scientist that goes on this really long journey but no one believes her because she was only gone for like .02 seconds that this is echoing?

10:43 — Lee goes legal. And we start the whole are-cylons-people debate.

10:44 — Don't they still have some of that cylon cord blood laying about for the kid? And can we believe Baltar?

10:47 — They're playing the whole Jesus/messiah thing, but it was Six in the Jesus position in the photos. And so much better without the beard/hair. And who uses a straight-bladed razor and isn't Johnny Depp?

10:52 — Baltar is too lucky a bastard. At least the kid's alive. But now we have to wonder about the whole correlation/causality thing for at least a few more episodes.

10:54 — Sucks to be Kara. And Anders.

10:55 — Nevermind, just Anders.

10:57 — The words to be continued need to abolished from the Language. Interesting we couldn't see her eyes though, they were doing that with the Chief earlier.

10:23 — There be wormholes?
That was my first thought, too.

10:29 — Why are there no male followers of Baltarianism?
I was wondering that at first, too, but then I thought I saw a few guys peppered throughout here and there.

10:54 — Sucks to be Kara. And Anders.

10:55 — Nevermind, just Anders.
LoL!

I did too after a bit, but they were definitely in the shadows/not talking to Baltar. I wonder how six is going to reacting to

Scifi has this Last Supper-esque photo on the website where they have Lee staring at a grail and Roslin with a lit match. I mean, I know Roslin's going to do something, but what's Lee's grail quest, Starbuck?

Contact, based on the novel by Carl Sagan.

That Cult of Baltar thing. Is that something new, or did it start up in the last season? I totally don't remember it.

Well, it kind of a mirror situation. Jodie Foster (in Contact) experienced many hours during what appeared to be a split-second for the observers. Her recording equipment had recorded only noise, so they didn't believe her, but some tech pointed out that it recorded the same number of hours of noise.

But then, Lost Time is nothing new in alien abduction stories (if that is what happened to Starbuck). It's almost a required feature.

Quote
And who uses a straight-bladed razor and isn't Johnny Depp?
People who are deprived of many of the luxuries (disposable blades) they used to have, due to the need to devote manufacturing facilities to survival. "There's a war on buddy, or ain't you heard?"
That "London during the Blitz" sort of stuff.

Anybody else have DirecTV and catch the special showcase "What the Frack is Going On?" eight-minute recap of the first three seasons?

:D Best.  Recap.  Ever.  My favorite line:  "Starbuck realizes Boomer is a Cylon, but Helo tells her there's a bun in the toaster."

[edit}
found it on Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMofM168Ig8).

No, the best is the use of Jack Ruby as a verb.

That was cool too (the thing was full of cool lines actually) but I damn near asphyxiated at "bun in the toaster".

My buddies and I freaked when Tigh "shot" the Old Man.  I think that probably says something pretty good about the writers' ability to ramp up tension since it's still rare to find a show where people might die at any time (poor Billy...).

The one thing that really struck me about this episode is that the opening battle absolutely and completely blew the opening battle from Revenge of the Sith out of the water.  I wonder how the budgets compared.

I agree, the opening battle is the best space battle I've seen, worthy of the big screen.  BSG has just jumped to the head of my high-def purchase list (after I get a HD player, of course).

Has anyone got any suggestions? (http://www.tvsquad.com/2008/04/08/significance-of-a-cylons-right-eye/)

Hmm, actually I feel exactly the other way round. We have had so many fake deaths in this series and only one real death (Billy) of a (semi)major character. Unless I see the body flying out of an airlock, I just don't believe that anybody is dead...

Yeah, you'd think that somebody's Viper exploding would be a sure bet that she's dead ....

oh, and as for last week's episode, I thought that Roslin missed Starbuck on purpose until almost at the end.

small correction, of course there is one other semimajor character that dies (Tigh's Wife Ellen), but I still stand by my statement.
The fake death/ real death ratio is to high to make me believe that somebody has just died.

Yeah, but what fictional universe works with so many main characters dying? The Wire killed a lot of people, but they were still mostly minor characters.

Whiiiiiiich will soon be an HBO miniseries.  I think that one calls for a bodycount-based drinking game.

Seeing drunk Adama put Roslin in her place was really, really nice.

Well, that was ironic. Poor Cally.

You see what you've done? Tempt not the RDM (http://www.rondmoore.com/Site/Blog/Blog.html), for he will strike upon you with great vengeance.

I guess Tory is the Final Five equivalent of Caville? It certainly seems like they're both the secret keepers.

Tory seems to be the only one of the new 4 Cylons who has an agenda. Is it just because she copes differently than the others (she seems to accept the idea that she is a Cylon much more than the others do) or does she know something the others don't?

Also I really like the political battle that is brewing between Laura and Adama/Zarek.

Well if you remember back in season 1... ah so lnog ago... when we didn't know anything about cylons and models and such... Boomer gets people to lie for her to protect herself... and he knows she is a cylon and just cannot accept it.

It could be the same for these ones...

Or the theory from this weeks Slice of Sci fi is true.  i'm not going to spoil it.  Just go listen.
Even if its not true the level of speculation takes me back a few years who when Battlestar started showing, debating who was what.  Speculation about the matrix sequels with long rants about 3 different matrix's going at once ony on top of another and so on.  Wild speculation about the 'new' star trek series.

I think I just enjoy wild speculation and seeing how off it was and letting hte story onfold before me.

however as for the Cally thing, a music video I made sums up how I feel pretty well
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6OLlYErNNs

She went through a lot and was a messed up character for so many reasons, my fav non main one.  She went through a lot and came through it happy on new caprica.  Happly ever after.  not on battlestar... ¬_¬

I found it pretty neat that they had hard-boiled detective fiction in the Colonies  ;D
