I'm a big fan of the Lyttle Lytton Contest (http://adamcadre.ac/lyttle.html). It's inspired by the better-known Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, but the object of the Lyttle Lytton is to create astonishingly bad bits of prose in 30 words or less. The winning entries can reduce me to a helpless giggling mass.
The 2009 winners (http://adamcadre.ac/09lyttle.html) have been posted. I can't decide if I prefer:
I have the ability to go through time, he suddenly remembered while at a bus stop near a tree.
Or:
Farmer John admired the golden corn, sprouting from the ground like buried treasure.
Or:
Despite having ascended to the most powerful political office in the world, President Zachary Herney was average in height, with a slender build and narrow shoulders.
Actually, that last one is taken from a Dan Brown novel.
