It’s not that I’m easy, y’know? I mean, I got my standards, same as everyone, and it takes more than some dime-store wrench with a cheap chrome job to loosen my drawers.

But I’m a toolbox - what am I supposed to do? These guys, they’re not NASCAR engineers with a million dollars in their pocket. They’re just regular guys, trying to earn a half-decent wage, fixing the heaps of junk that other regular guys need to get to their crummy jobs, that … well, y’know how it goes.

Rated PG. for innuendo.

Lame.  Very lame.  The joke wore out within three or four sentences, and wasn't that funny to begin with.

Yeah, I wasn't terribly impressed by the story, and while Amanda's readings are generally good, this one was not the right story for her.

With teenage boys, my toolbox should feel grateful that there are any tools in her drawers at all. 

As far as the story goes 7 out of 10,  as Steph said the idea grew old fast and that is saying something in a flash.

Am I the only one who misheard "toolbox" as "toybox?"

I thought she was talking to a six-year-old until I read the shownotes...

This was the kind of story that might have been better as a poem. The central conceit wore thin so quickly that it became awkward and not in the (what I assume) was the post-(insert ology/ism) pro/anti-tautology tongue-in-cheek/tool-in-boxes manner it was intended, of course, that awkwardness, might have been the point.

Kind of disappointed that the toolbox seemed to value herself by how well she accommodated tools better than other toolboxes.

Perhaps it's just because it seemed sophomoric.

I love the Kiwi reader's voice, but even that wasn't enough to carry it.
