Title: introduction nostelgia
Post by: deflective on October 04, 2009, 02:14:14 AM
i just looked back at my first posts, apparently it was pseudopod's flash fiction (http://forum.escapeartists.net/index.php?topic=1264.msg19316#msg19316) that sucked me in.  i was on the blog before that but the atmosphere here was more involved, more appropriate for commenting on trends across several episodes.

do you remember when you entered the forums?

Apparently it was to express my dislike of the Mike Resnick story 'The Boy Who Yelled Dragon.' And I do recall the tale, its one of a small handful of EP stories I actively disliked. Which is slightly odd as I've liked every other story of his to come on EP. :)

Also, apparently I was busy that day, because there's a bunch of other of my posts on the same day.

I was the third person to ever join these forums. :D
Came here to be a moderator for one of my favorite podcasts. :)
aaaaah nostalgia...

my first post was me saying how I had never been on this type of forum before (codewise) but that I'd get used to it. :P

I joined to comment on the flash fiction contest a little less than a month into the life of the forum.

My second post I managed to mangle the chemical formula for sugar and gave instead the formula for lactic acid, which I'm really not sure how I did. I mean, same atoms, but the numbers were way off.

Well my first post(s) back in February 2007 were somewhat demanding but thankful in nature.  First I wanted to know which Anders Manga track was used for Pseudopod.  Then it was are there more Union Dues stories coming.  No real claim to fame here unless you count page 100 on the picture thread.

I joined for the flash fiction contest, too.  Also, one of my first posts talked about how being religious and/or conservative did not prevent anyone from enjoying sci-fi or fantasy.

I arrived here about a month ago when they closed down the blog comments.  :-P  I'm far too pedantic and opinionated to resist discussing literature, and if the easy path is denied me, well...

(I also only recently developed a lifestyle in which I have time/inclination to listen to podcasts. I'm terrible at aural processing and usually find listening to stories to be quite difficult, as doing anything but utterly mindless tasks will completely distract me from the audio input.  Hooray for the night shift at a compliance hotline, I suppose, where there isn't anything else to do but I have to sit at the computer the whole time regardless.)

My first post was absolutely ridiculous. I'm still very ashamed of it. Alcohol may have been involved.

I came here because of Pseduopod. Honestly, finding PP was about the most awesome thing in this whole year.

Flash Fiction for me as well. Fun times. I remember being so bummed when the contest was over.

Although my first post was about "Hey, anyone else heard JJ Abrams is going to be doing a reboot of Star Trek?"

The first post I can find is complaining that the EP episode of the week, was not that great. I guess some things never change ;)

I showed up and pretty much immediately began a giant film poll.  Now I'm about to start a giant SF novel poll (http://forum.escapeartists.net/index.php?topic=2923.0), so things don't really change that much.

My very first sentence on the fora: I can't believe I'm using my first post to discuss the US movie rating system instead of the story....

From there, I mostly hung out in the general SF and Fantasy discussion fora, instead of discussing episodes or the podcast.  So no real change there.

Haha! Pseudopod 84: The Sons of Carbon County - I've loved Psudo Pod from the beginning.  Thanks for this little trip down memory lane!

I got hooked on EP with "Shoulders of Giants" and entered the forums shortly after posting in the "List of Awesome" and some damn thing about first snowfalls.   I tried Podcastle and Pseudopod but they didn't do much for me so I'm pretty much sticking exclusively to sci-fi in the EP world.
