Title: Narrator
Post by: Bdoomed on November 07, 2009, 07:47:11 PM
If you could choose anyone to narrate your life as you live it, who would it be?

I think I'd like Patrick Stewart to do it...
or Morgan Freeman...
or Edward Norton...
or... Catherine Zeta Jones
or the guy who voiced Aku in Samurai Jack (apparently his name is Mako)

so yeah how about you guys?

James Earl Jones would be cool

Ed Norton proved his narration chops in fight club as well.

Samuel Jackson possibly

for a female narrator maybe Kathleen Turner.

Sir Ian McKellan.  Not even a question here, people.  Sir Ian rocks hardcore.

Darnit, was going to say James Earl Jones too. You can't have him! He's MY chosen narrator! :p

Though, I listen to a LOT of podcast fiction, so the first couple names that came to mind were voices I've become very familiar with the past few years from their online novels.. Abigail Hilton and Nathan Lowell, just absolutely wonderful readers who's voices I really like.

I called dibs first, but if I go insane, then I want mr Kilroy 2.0 himself narrating, J.C. Hutchins.

Either David Hewlett or Henry Rollins who, because I am slightly delusional, I would also like to play me in the movie of my life.

Rollins would make an awesome narrator.  Of course he would look at me be disgusted and stop narrating until i started exercising to lose weight.

Neil Gaiman.  No question.

He has the level of dry humor that narrating my life would require.  And is able to make very absurd things sound reasonable.

OOOh I think I might also want the guy who narrates the Halo multiplayer matches, the guy who says "Double Kill!", "Game Over", "Gained the Lead!", etc.
that would be awesome.

If I could raise the dead, I'd totally love to have Mako as my chronicler so you could totally groove to the many instances where I crush my enemies, etc. etc. etc.

Another great voice would've been Don LaFontaine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJMGS7l0wT8), especially for the car chases.

I would've liked Criswell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xes0F36eTJA), too.

For the living, maybe David Attenborough for that nature show vibe.

Clancy Brown would be fun, too, but only if he does it in his Eugene Krabs voice.

...then again, I'd even go with whoever voiced this pizza boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNW4Rnx0kxk)...man, that's one smooth roach.

Vivian Stanshall

Viv Stanhall!  GOOD choice!

Phillipa Balentine (Think I'm prolly mispelling it all to heck) because her voice is so awesome people'd forget to be bored. OR The Great Alisadair.  Morgan Freeman is the epitome of awesome, but he's apparently quite busy so I'll give him a pass. Can I narrate my own life? After all, only I know how to sing all the wrong words to certain songs in just the correct wrong key- and that's important.

Wow, thank you:)

Thought of another one for me.  Anna Torv, simply because the idea of my life being narrated by a possibly transhuman FBI agent with a really nice voice really appeals to me:)

"Vivian Stanshall, about three o'clock in the morning, Oxfordshire, 1973, goodnight..."

That's all I know about the guy, but it has endeared him to me for life. First heard that when I was... well that would be telling. Suffice it to say it was several years after that, when I was in high school.

Patrick Stewart would be my choice.

Picard is (honestly) my hero... and PS is completely and utterly incredible (as an actor anyway).

Well i was going to publish a link to his works, but I will have to tell you his name and name of the works, because the m@therf@#kers that be decided podiobooks.com has become too much of a threat to China.

Greg Crites author of Duncan the Vampire Slayer:Something Porcine This Way Comes and Devlin Abnormal Detective: The Case of the Hell Hermit.  He has the deep raspy voice of someone who spends their life in a bar alternately sucking on a cigar or a glass of cheap whiskey.  I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.  Just finished Devlin and have started on Duncan.

PS you need to turn off the adult filter to find all of his books.

Mako for me.  He was the wizard in Conan the Barbarian.  He doesn the "narrator" voice-over bits in the first part of the movie, and at the end.

If I could raise the dead....

Wow, I forgot about the dead people. Well, in that case, sign me up for Yule Brenner.

Yah, she's got a great voice. Or The Word Whore.

Male voice? Hmmm...
Kevin Spacey, or
Stuart McLean, writer and host of The Vinyl Cafe (http://www.cbc.ca/vinylcafe/home.php) radio show.

Introducing the Band by the Bonzo Dog DooDah Band was the first time I was introduced to the 'Repeat something for long enough it will go out the other side of funny into dull.  Keep repeating it and it'll come back out of dull into funny AGAIN' rule.  It still makes me giggle:)

If you listen to commercials, you can hear some good talent narrating stuff. I've heard Lisa Edelstein, Hector Elizondo, Don Cheadle, Kevin Spacey...

If you listen to Kate Walsh in her Cadillac commercial, you can kind of hear how she'd be a decent narrator.
