Title: Greg van Eekhout's The Osteomancer's Son. Trilogy.
Post by: DKT on April 08, 2010, 07:43:18 PM
Greg van Eekhout just announced on his blog that he's sold The Osteomancer's Son to Tor Books as a trilogy (http://gregvaneekhout.livejournal.com/301551.html).

I'm pretty stoked about this - I love the story (http://podcastle.org/2008/05/19/pc008-the-osteomancers-son/) and the world and I'm thrilled to see how he spins it into a larger story and mythos.

So, congrats (again) to Greg. Very freaking cool, and can't wait to read it!

I absolutely loved this story.  It grabbed me right away at the opening lines and wouldn't let me go.  I can't wait to see what Greg van Eekhout does with a novel set in the same world(!?!?)! [...]
(From the story thread (http://forum.escapeartists.net/index.php?topic=1616.0), lo so many years ago.)

Ha! Yeah, I guess some things never change...and other things do :)

Too cool! I'll have to fire up the old fiction thumb drive today, and have a new listen of Osteomancer.

Fantastic!  I wonder if Podcastle running the story helped get the novel published?

While I will never downplay the benefits of appearing on the Escape Artists' podcasts (I mean, hell, Wil Wheaton gave one of my pieces a shoutout ZOMG), I don't think the acquiring editor at Tor has listened to "Osteomancer's Son." I'm not even sure he read the story in print. As far as I know, the sale was based on a five-page synopsis and the first fifty pages of the book. But, hey, I could be wrong.

out of curiosity, i thought i saw the cabal influencing events (http://forum.escapeartists.net/index.php?topic=1616.msg27281#msg27281) in your short story, are you willing to comment one way or another about that?

Can't tell you, cabal will eat me.
