Title: PodCastAle
Post by: kibitzer on September 22, 2011, 03:22:16 AM

State Change - Rauchbier, turning a vapor(smoke) into a liquid(beer)

Hurt Me - Barleywine, a good strong one.

The Dybbuck in the Bottle - Dopplebock, simply because if you drink enough of them, "Dopplebock" becomes "Dybbuck" when you say it.

Household Spirits - Cream Ale or Saison, both "Farmhouse" styles

Something Wicked This Way Plumbs... - Imperial Porter/Stout

I'm thinking PodCastAle

 ;D

(Or, rather...my husband came up with it.  I guess he should get the credit.   :P)

((PodCastAle in an Amber form))

You all are soooooooooooooooo cool :)

Seems appropriate to fuel the fire over here.

Maybe we've already mined the names but maybe not.

What would a specially-commissioned PodCastle beer be called?

AND/OR

a beer/spirit named after a PodCastle episode?

Pulling in additional quotes from the discussion:

DKT, what did you take a drink of during the intro?  And more importantly, what style of beer would be a good Podcastle beer?  Podcastle Porter, full of both dark swirling depths, and foamy white clouds?  Podcastle Pale Ale, good for sitting down with friends in the pub?  I may need to do something about this.

It was a Stone IPA. (Alas, I had no Arrogant Bastard on hand, which I prefer.)

This would probably be a good time to confess that while I do like beer, I actually prefer those little drinks with fruit and umbrellas in them (especially margaritas. OHMYGOD I heart the margaritas.)

I'm not 100% sure what would make the best PodCaslte brew, although...I'll work on that  ;) I think ideally, like the fantasy we feature here, it should be a full range of beers. Your dark Mermaid's Tea Party Variety, your Wizard's Apprentice Pale Ale, etc.

Wow. I just realized we could have a lot of fun naming the beers after episodes!

Ya know, you don't have to just restrict this to beer, since Dave likes cocktails a bit more. I'm going to assume classic cocktails, as there is no chemical corn syrup mixer substitute for the real deal.

Sinners Saints Dragons and Haints clearly deserves the classic Hurricane:

2 oz lemon juice
2 oz passion fruit syrup
4 oz dark Jamacian rum
serve over crushed ice
(although I prefer to cut the lemon juice in half, and often substitute in Gosling's instead of a Jamacian rum)

Dark and Stormy for The Mermaid's Tea Party:

6 oz ginger beer
3 oz Gosling's dark rum
1 oz lime (half a lime with the spent shell for garnish)

Maybe a Singapore Sling for The Paper Menagerie:

2 oz dry gin
1 oz lime juice
1 oz B&B
1 oz Cherry Heering
serve over crushed ice and top glass with club soda

Oh, and for Something Wicked This Way Plumbs: Dogfishhead Punkin Ale or Terrapin Pumpkinfest

I reserve the name "Innsmouth and Gunn" for a PseudoPod brew. If only I had some bourbon barrels for cask conditioning.

Clearly, we need a homebrewer/Escape Artists con/meet-up!

What with Teh Innernetz and all, can't we get a Virtual Brew?

(I would LOVE a meetup but it's just too far!)
