Hi All
When I try to update my feeds, I'm getting an error from Escape Pod, is the feed down? I'm using:
http://escapepod.org/podcast.xml
which was working fine until a day or so ago, anybody else having problems?

I just looked at my feed and it had an error message by it. So perhaps I was having troubles as well, however when I clicked 'update podcast' again, it was fine. Perhaps the feed was down for a bit? Try it again and see what happens! :)

Ummm I have noooo experience with Ubuntu, so I can't help you there... Anyone else around here know rhythmbox?

I can confirm this. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 and Banshee as a media player, but I haven't been able to get this podcast to work for a couple of years, and now I really want to get back to listening to some new episodes. I can't update the feed, or even add it. I have added lots of other podcasts, but this won't work. This is another computer than the original one where I first had the problem, so I think the problem is in the feed. Could you guys check the xml-code, because I have a hunch that there's some insignificant little hashtag or something, that throws these players off?
As I mentioned, I haven't had trouble with other podcasts.

The problem is the atom-feed. Use gPodder from the software center, since the stock players in ubunu doesn't support this type of feed yet.
