Dang.

He was probably the last of the old guard of sci-fi, wasn't he? I can't think of anyone else who's still around.

Farewell sir.

Amazing, brilliant man who made the world a better place with his fiction. He lived a great long life - he came down to ComicCon pretty much every year, despite his age, and was always so full of life.

His work really affected me, and he was one of the writers who influenced my life.

I think I'm gonna go cry now. Then I'm gonna go reread some of his stories.

He was indeed a great guy, aside from being a fantastic author.  I grew up in southern california, and every year he would come down to my small local library to give a talk, sign books, and generally hang out.  As a child I got to spend hours with one of my literary heroes, including tons of one on one talks on various topics.  He was very inspiring to me.

He'll be missed - but not mourned.  I don't think he'd want that.
