Title: Where was the first publication your work appeared in?
Post by: TheTravelingPoet on December 05, 2013, 03:32:06 AM
A couple years ago, a poem of mine, my first published piece, was accepted by a now long dead literary project.  I was 16, and absolutely stoked.  The ezine was called the Railroad Poetry Project.

Where did your first published piece appear?

If you haven't been published yet, there are some awesome Facebook groups you can use (search "calls for submissions" at Facebook) you can use to find presses seeking submissions.  I'd include links, but I'm currently making my first post.

Cheers!

Man, to recall this I have to go all the way back to September... of this year. Yes, my first publication came a mere three months ago. I'm on my way now. :D

It's in Issue 2 of "Promptly" over at promptandcircumstance.com

Can I count my drabble? I'm gonna count my drabble, which would be July 2013 on Drabblecast #288 (http://www.drabblecast.org/2013/07/09/drabblecast-287-bayou-witch/). :)

I was in a poetry.com collection, but I don't think counting that is a fair reading of the question, so... drabble in Drabblecast #282.

Reader's Digest.  I think 1983.  I wrote a joke that they used, and they paid really well.

Everything I've gotten published since then has been either newspaper stories, press releases, or technical documentation.
