Hi, another one of those threads where someone (me) asks to help them locate a story that they remember listening to years ago.
I vaguely recall that it was set in Victorian times, the main character was some kind of government agent or policewoman and was also a sorceress or something... I believe there was at least one other episode in the series.
Any ideas?
Ta!

Hmm, I bet you're thinking of "The Tricks of London" (http://podcastle.org/2012/11/14/podcastle-234-giant-episode-the-tricks-of-london/) and "Wane" (http://podcastle.org/2012/06/21/podcastle-213-wane/) by Elizabeth Bear. :)

Lovely job, cheers Varda!

While it appears that Varda resolved your question, it also sounds like the Marla Mason stories by T. A. Pratt would satisfy your query.

Those are set in contemporary times as I recall (I could be wrong, it's been a while).

I think you're right that part of it is modern, but chunks have also been in the historic district. Add some love of antiquarian material and time travel and that fuels my conflation.

Why must everyone fuel Fenrix's conflation? :D

Who let Fenrix drink the Pumpkin Ale again?

Well, since you're not drinking it, *someone* had to...

Couldn't obviously spot any more.
I know the name Tim Pratt... has he been on Pseudopod?

Those are the two. You may particularly appreciate Ill Met in Ulthar.
Tim Pratt has been all over EA, but Gulls and Bone Sigh are his two stories on PseudoPod.
If you want a sampling of some of the best dark Pratt bits, check out Fable from a Cage on Podcastle, Observer Effects on EscapePod, and Jubilee on Drabblecast.
