Title: Hear me expound like a madman, this Sunday... (June 24th) on The Writing Show
Post by: jrderego on June 21, 2007, 02:00:58 PM
writingshow.com is usually updated midday Sunday (for those of us on the East Coast). I was interviewed about my distrust and dislike of Print on Demand.

Get your pitchforks and torches ready!

I might actually be doing a regular commentary on that show too, depending on how popular (i.e. how many death threats) they get for feedback following my appearance.

Hmmm... I have plans already.
Can we send preemptive death threats?
You know “Best wishes. You’ll die painfully!” and that sort of thing.

Absolutely! FYI, The Writing Show is a podcast, it's not live. So you can listen to it later, and send me belated death threats. :)

Great interview.  I never trusted POD and never will.  It's in league with that community center writing class,  "any schmuck can write" vibe that allows very bad books and stories to get published.  I've met a few earnest writers who did POD at cons but they never seem to get ahead.  Also, you don't get that marketing junket every new writer gets and that in itself is very expensive.

I've also found it irritating that every writing panel at cons is almost all POD writers.  Where is their credibility? It's easy to max out a credit card and do a POD.

You nailed every reason I will never do POD.
