Title: The story where she accesses the internet from a fantasy realm, prints Wikipedia
Post by: SteamWolf on January 17, 2016, 02:14:36 PM
It was a couple of years ago. Ugh, it's killing me. I can't recall if it was Escape Pod or Podcastle, and I don't remember anything about the title or character names. What I remember is that there was a cast of characters who live in a world or dimension where magic functioned. The protagonist was female, I think, and she figured out a way to get things from our world. At one point they mention she opened a café or some sort of small business where she had all of Wikipedia printed out and bound.

It's driving me crazy.

It was in Welcome to Bordertown, edited by Holly Black and Ellen Kushner - http://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Bordertown-Holly-Black/dp/0375866353/ref=sr_1_1

I'm not sure exactly which story. I think it was Shannon's Law by Cory Doctorow, not least because that did also appear on Escape pod - http://escapepod.org/2011/05/05/ep291-shannons-law/.

Thanks loads! I had a sudden hankering to re-listen to this story after revisiting Mr. Penumbra’s Twenty-Four-Hour Book Store.
