Title: DeathMatch
Post by: Thaurismunths on August 02, 2007, 03:55:50 PM
We've all thought of it.
Who would win in an all-out, no holds barred fight to the death?
All entries are welcome.

My first entry:
Scott Sigler (http://www.scottsigler.net/contact.html) vs. Phil Rossi (http://www.philrossi.net/index.html)?

Sigler pull out an AUG and chicken scissors.  Rossi pulls out The Lord of Darkness and all his minions.  Sigler puts up a fight, but ends up being eaten by Rossi.  Sylar style.

Kyle McLachlan vs Alec Newman -- who is the true Atreides heir?

Dumbledore I & II vs Dumbledore III/IV/V - Richard Harris would never have manhandled Harry, but Michael Gambon is more believable as Angry Dumbledore

David Prowse vs Hayden Christensen - 7-foot-tall bodybuilder FTW!

Neil Gaiman's Death vs Terry Pratchett's Death - who would you rather reap you?

My money's on Sigler.
But only because he's going to tag out to some Equipoise-swilling, ex-space Marine special forces, retired linebacker from the UP who attended UofM and lives in Detroit.

River, hands down, because she can kill you with her mind!

Battle of the Harrys:  Harry Dresden vs Harry Potter

That'd be a pretty good fight but the one I really want to see is Harry Dresden vs. John Constantine Hellblazer.  Not that that'd be much of a contest, mind you.  Dresden wouldn't last 30 seconds.   ;)

Dresden does have a heavenly katana.

Which is why he'd make it 30 seconds :)

She never did.  But after Ariel, IIRC, when Simon was patching up Jayne, after he gave him that little talk about how someday Jayne would be under Simon's knife, then River leaned in and said, rather jovially... "also, I can kill you with my brain."

I just re-watched that episode last night.  Upon second viewing, I wonder if she wasn't speaking figuratively, meaning, "I'm so much smarter than you, I can trick you into dying"  ( or shoot you with my eyes closed :P )

Or a second movie, stupid Universal.

I've always taken that line to be the creepy little devil girl being a typical 16yr old and scaring the bejesus out of Jayne. No real implications of powers or intention.
Had the shot continued, I could see River giggling incessantly as she told Simon what she'd said, then Simon would get really serious and ask "um.. you can't actually?... I mean... can you?"

That's the way I always interpretted that.  If she had that kind of power, she would have used it against the reavers.

JW would totally have done that too.  Maybe it's a deleted scene.

Perhaps what she means is not that she can make your brain melt or your heart stop but that she can make you see things so scary that you die of fright.  Which one would guess Reavers can't do.  But Jayne has a lot of bad stuff in his past that I'm sure she could turn even scarier.

Or it might just be that you're correct.

Buffy vs. River.
The winner ... er ... survivor takes on Max (from Dark Angel).
